About

Tontos Grill, a local pizza, burger fast food restaurant.

"Tonto Bar & Grill is built on a strong foundation that transcends most restaurants’ missions. Not only do we take great pride in our food, drinks and service – all of which are consistently outstanding – we also aim to preserve Arizona’s heritage through our cuisine and by sharing the stories of our property’s past. We fuse Southwestern and Native American ingredients and present them in a warm, welcoming atmosphere rich in Arizona lore.We offer several different dining areas including 3 patios with awe-inspiring views of the southern rim of the Tonto National Forest. Two inside dinning rooms and a cozy bar complete this historical resort restaurant."

Outstanding lunch on the patio. Amazing views, excellent service and delicious food. The Tonto has been one of my Mom's favorites for years and this was my first visit. Our server recommended the Harvest Salad and it did not disappoint. The Cobb Salad was simply delicious, generous bacon and blue cheese crumbles. A special place.Food: 5/5
This is our view from a patio table in the evening. We can not say anough great things about this restaurant! It is a top choice for all our special occasions. The food is top notch, flavorful, and the portions are more than generous! It's a great atmosphere, more quiet and very visually appealing. Highly recommend! Vegetarian options: There are vegan and vegetarian options available and they are delicious!
Four star prices with two star service. This restaurant was recommended to my wife and I by two other couples, so we went here for our wedding anniversary. Our waiter was Logan. We began by ordering drinks. My wife ordered a beer and Logan asked her if she wanted it in a can or a glass. My wife said a glass. When he brought it out he simply placed the can and glass on the table beside her and walked away. He didn't even pour it for her. I told him I just wanted a lemon for my water and no other drink. Instead he brought out an iced tea. I immediately told him that's not what I ordered and had him take it away. Later, on our bill, he charged us for it until I told him to amend the bill. You do not get even free bread at the beginning of the meal. Instead we had to order a $5 baquette. My wife ordered the $45 beef short rib. When my wife got it it looked like a big chunk of pot roast. She questioned Logan about this and he said this is just the way they do ribs. It looked nothing like ribs. I ordered the $32 pork schnitzel. It was not even breaded. It was simply grilled. The red cabbage was partially crunchy, which I've never experienced in any German restaurant. Logan wasn't even the person who brought us our meals. Throughout the dinner I had to flag down other wait staff to get my water glass refilled twice. He never came to check on us to see how our meals were. He only appeared when he asked if we wanted dessert. All desserts here are $15 even for a simple slice of cake. That's ridiculous. We said no. To pay the bill, Logan brought a credit card reader to our table. He had the gall to preset the tip amount to 20%. Hell no! I've had better service at Denny's. Prices here are higher than on the menus others have posted on this website. I could get just as good food if not better for half the price at another restaurant. We do not recommend going here.
We had early reservations and the hostess sat us by an open door and server station. I asked to be moved and she refused to accommodate explaining "it was a full night". Looking around, a ton of tables were open, but she refused a second request. We purposely stayed long enough to witness not all tables were filled. The ribeye steak was surprisingly tough. The upside? The drinks were good and the server was great - earning 1 star each for this review.
Tontos is a treat for me and my family, we come about four times a year and everything has always been perfect; we usually bring friends from out of town to dine as well. I do have to say today was not the afternoon delight we are used too. My boyfriend ordered the Tonto burger medium, the burger came out like a hockey puck and he only took two bites; he did enjoy his side salad and the fries are always awesome. Just like I always do, I have the sand dabs, it's the dish I always look forward too when I dine at Tontos. Now for my honest review, the sand dabs usually come lightly floured with a nice clean crispy fried batter taste, today it was very bland, no crisp to the sand dabs and very bland/soggy and I gotta say the sauce was super acidic with a very strong lemon flavor. I did eat the crisp ends but that was it. I did have the chowder soup and it was so darn good!!!! Our 12 year old twins was very happy, one of them got the Pepperdelle sp lobster pasta and we all agreed it was off the hook. The other twin got the kids burger and it was cooked a perfect medium. With what's going on in the world, we do not complain often because we understand and that's why we rated our lunch a 4 star, Tontos is a great place to dine and we will be back, we chop it up to not a good day.....we all have those don't we? The ambiance is so comfortable at Tontos!
I ordered my burger medium well and it arrived very well done. The girlfriend ordered sanddabs and imo this dish was not properly executed. Breading on fish was mushy and sluffed off. The sauce was extremely acidic. Maybe it just wasn't my type of dish... My daughter ordered a pasta dish that was outstanding. I would come back just to order this dish. Im going to give this restaurant another chance. The restaurant itself is well decorated and very clean.
We had Easter brunch there. Nice place for a special occasion as well as just because. Parking: Lots of parking options, could be a bit a walking
By far the best restaurant experience in a long time. The restaurant was spotless clean and the food and service were excellent. It's a get what you pay for sort of thing though. We just spent $120 on one appetizer, one shared entree, two drinks and a dessert.
A great place to have great food and a nice view. Very relaxed atmosphere and beautiful grounds on the hotel property. We have eaten there three times in the last few months. The food has been very consistent and good quality.Food: 5/5
As a critic, I have nothing to criticize. First, I loved my Prickly Pear Margarita - refreshing, a glass of elegance and excellence. The chowder was beautiful and just the right portion, my pasta is next to perfect, the chef certainly knows how to balance and tease my taste buds. My partner was equally happy with his drink, the fish and sorbets. We were chatting whilst watching a bare-footed golfer to swing the ball onto the greens. The place is full at sunset, so booking is essential. A definite local favorite, well-worthy of a return visit.
