We booked the Tongariro Crossing package and stayed for two nights. Check in was easy. Our room the Pipiriki suite was spacious and we enjoyed access to a shared kitchenette. As part of our package, our hosts provided us a delicious continental breakfast; arranged transport to/from the crossing with a reputable local transportation company that picked us up from the lodge; packed us a tasty lunch for the hike; and cooked us breakfast at the lodge on our second day. Free self-service laundry was a nice surprise. The lodge itself is in a perfect location, walking distance to several restaurants and shops. Would stay again.
Marina and Louis are lovely people. Our breakfasts were excellent. The weather was bad but they refunded our shuttle for the crossing. They also have free laundry on site that was really great. 10/10Rooms: 5/5
Fantastic hosts. We stayed to do the Tongariro Crossing. Everything was organised for us, transport, packed lunches, breakfast etc. Definitely recommend. Rooms: Comfortable rooms. Food & drinks: Delicious packed lunch and breakfast.
My wife and I stayed here for one night in early October. It’s a very clean and comfortable small hotel. The owner/staff were warm and friendly, and made us feel most welcome. The hotel is located very near the entrance to the national park. It’s also an easy walk to several restaurants nearby. All in all, we were extremely pleased with our stay. Rooms: Our room was large and comfortable, and came with a dedicated kitchen down the hall. Very convenient! Nearby activities: National park is a short drive away. Walkability: Easy to walk to several restaurants nearby. Food & drinks: We selected the continental breakfast, which was large and delicious, and served in the dining room, which was charming.
They were able to give me a nice room, and late check in. The really helped me out when I need a place to stay. If you are doing the Tongariro crossing, or enjoying anything in the area, the location is perfect, and I loved the rooms. The were clean and well appointed.Rooms: 5/5
Loved the 1 bedroom suite. Separate temp controls allowed us to keep bedroom cool, sitting room warm. Breakfasts were terrific, served on china. We also got excellent advice to hike the Tupapakurua Falls trail, a highlight of our trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed two nights at the Tongariro Crossing Lodge and loved it! The service was outstanding and the attention to details were much appreciated. Louis cooks an excellent breakfast and the lunches they packed for our out hike were delicious. Also, being able to do our laundry for free was quite helpful after a long day of hiking. We stayed at a number of hotels and B&B's throughout our trip and this was by far the nicest experience we had. Thank you Louis and Marina!
The accommodations were absolutely perfect and in a great location. Louis was a friendly and wonderful host; he gave us helpful tips. He made arrangements for a shuttle to the Alpine Crossing. The full breakfast was excellent and beautifully served. The owners provided nutritious and tasty sandwiches for us to take on our trek…on homemade bread! They even have a laundry room for guests. We highly recommend this outstanding lodge!!!
This place is great! The hosts gave us the warmest welcome. They tried everything in their power to make our stay even better. The rooms had a lovely, homely, cottage feel, were well appointed, warm and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. This stay was exactly what we were hoping for and exceeded our expectations.
