Official Tokoroa A.F.C. Facebook page
Tokoroa AFC has been in existence for almost 60 years and will be indeed celebrating its diamond jubilee in 2013
From its humble beginning as Kinleith United in 1953, it has grown and prospered and now provides football for players of all ages and abilities with our adult & children’s team taking part in Waikato / Bay of plenty wide competitions
Changing its name to Tokoroa AFC in 1958 the club moved to Memorial Park where it was to play for the next 16 years, before moving to its current headquarters at Strathmore Park in 1974
Thanks to the efforts and input from the clubs dedicated players and supporters a purpose built clubrooms has been established that overlooks the #1 playing field and caters for Senior & Junior football on an all year round basis
The late 1960’s saw Tokoroa as a trial blazer, being one of the 1st Waikato based teams to participate in the Northern League football competition, meaning matches within the Auckland area virtually every 2nd weekend
The club built a reputation for playing hard competitive football, but at the same time also developed the social side so that many lasting friendships were developed with the various Auckland based teams
The clubs Altex cup competition was for many years one of the great attractions which had the support of teams from as far a field as Whangarei, Auckland, Palmerston and Wellington
2009 saw Tokoroa AFC nominated for and winning the South Waikato Sports Club of the year, something we are very pleased and proud about as it is recognition from our peers that we are doing something right, giving us a base to work on as we go forward into the next 60 years
Today the club caters for -:
Senior football – With two men’s and one ladies team taking part in the Waikato / Bay of Plenty competition – training nights are Tuesday & Thursday from 18-00
