June isn’t the ideal season for penguin watching, but we still felt incredibly lucky. About 30 minutes after sunset, two little penguins hurried back to their nests, and catching that moment made the whole trip absolutely worth it. Best of all, no tickets are required so everybody can enjoy these little moments.
You can see blue penguins for free in Timaru, New Zealand's South Island! As darkness falls, the penguins come ashore to go home, and as dawn breaks, they head out to work!nnHopefully, Yu Menglong and his fans can also witness this amazing sight.nnHappy Birthday Yu Menglong on June 15th!
200 tourists jostle for position to see two penguins.nIf you've never seen penguins before, this is a place to do so. But if you want to observe wildlife, this is not the place for you. It's crowded and mass tourism at its finest. At least the volunteers explained a few things and did their best to ensure that the rules were followed.
An absolutely amazing experience! But people ruined it for me!nnSo much pushing, phones and arms in my face, umbrellas hitting me, people pushing the volunteers!! Please be respectful, you’re here to see nature and be in the presence of an amazing animal, why not put your phone down and stand still and appreciate it!!nI stood still and got to watch the penguin swimming in, walking along the rocks and climbing up closer to everyone. But there were so many phones and elbows hitting me that I couldn’t see it anymore - just get one picture and then look with your eyes and enjoy the moment!!nThe volunteers are so lovely, they helped my short girlfriend see the penguin, as she couldn’t see past all the arms and phones up.nHad so many people moving around, pushing in, leaning so far over the ropes, which doesn’t help the penguins feel confident to come out.nnPlease listen to the volunteers there to help protect these little animals, and then you’ll have a better chance of seeing them. The volunteers are so helpful and want to help every person see them - but not if you’re being disrespectful!nnRated 5 stars because it’s so cool to see them in such an easy place, but the experience was definitely not as good as it could have been, because of so many people acting crazy!nI added the one video I took, it’s plenty I would say : then I enjoyed the rest of the experience with my eyes, and people could see past me too!
We saw 2 little Penguins come back on the beach. Very approachable ones. But please, don't go on the beach and stay behind fences on the road side as they rest in the rocks.
