Thomas Nash is an international leader in humanitarian and disarmament causes. Over two decades of professional life, he’s consistently delivered results in international relations, campaigning, and diplomatic circles. He has a strong track record, and is well respected at home and abroad.
Born and raised in Palmerston North, Thomas studied politics at Victoria University Wellington, and was recruited to Geneva to join the New Zealand Mission to the United Nations. In Europe, his interests in international relations and disarmament grew. In Canada, Thomas transitioned to the non-governmental sector, joining the campaign to ban landmines and organising the new global movement to ban cluster bombs, which saw him move to London in 2006. Leading a network of 400 NGOs in 100 countries, Thomas was pivotal in achieving the international treaty banning cluster-bombs in 2008. In 2011 he co-founded Article 36, an innovative NGO and leading voice in challenging violence and promoting disarmament.
Thomas has proven his ability to create positive change at the global level. Settled again in Palmerston North, he’s focused on ensuring a fair and prosperous future for our city and all New Zealanders. Bringing his organising skills, global experience and positive energy, he’s ready to represent you on the issues that matter.
