The owner of this place is a sailor himself and he has made sure that each room tells a story. You can truly feel the warmth this place has to offer and the views from this property is just magnificent. A great place for stay with easy access to lots of amenities and resources around the place. The owner also offers free Bikes if you like to cycle around.
Stay here for the most stunning views - worth braving the steep drive. Well equipped accommodation just could be modernised here and there. Super clean and lovely hosts. Chocolates and cookies were an appreciated touch. Will definitely be back a 3rd time!
Stayed in Wheelhouse Inn The Lookout in Dec 2022. 3 storey accommodation with bedroom and toilet on top floor, lounge and kitchen on 2nd and a bathroom on lower. Only 1 bedroom, although ampul room with an extra bed in lounge room and a pull-out couch. Close to centre of Nelson. Exceptional views from bedroom and lounge with outdoor deck, kitchen and cooking facilities. Would highly recommend
We stayed in the unit called upper deck. The home was beautiful. The wifi pw on the list is incorrect the dryer was broken. It would be nice if there were blinds in the kitchen as the landlord just walks around the house like no ones buisness. The disrespect from the landlord was diminishing she stays just above the unit. She came down to the property to ask us to turn the music down we were fine with that. Then she proceeded to come inside the home and tell us if we were having a party we had to leave we clearly wernt having a party but enjoying a few drinks as it was my sisters 30th birthday. We told her we were leaving to go the local pub as we are from wellington she took it upon herself to say dont bring anyone back here. We were here as a group of 6 no intentions what so ever of bringing a party home to jer property. Also while we were out she went to the property and moved the furniture around. She also left a disgusting note written in capitals on A3 size paper attached to the front door. Accusing my sister of not paying and saying her card declined. When we got home to the note it was very embarrassing to see. She had our phone number to send a text. Also payment had already been made so this was uncalled for. We did not get an apology. She also came to the home the next morning and strated cleaning at 9am we didnt have to leave until 11. Very annoyed wont be going back again.
Nice accommodation with outstanding views. Truly, those views were amazing, and watching a huge car carrier somehow squeeze through the narrow opening between the sand dunes at the harbour entrance was incredible. The accommodation was good, with a kitchen, lounge and deck on one level, with the bedroom upstairs. The bathroom was downstairs, 2 levels away from the bedroom down a narrow staircase, which was a weakness, but there was a toilet and basin on the bedroom level. The location is quite central, assuming you have a car, but the access streets are quite narrow and twisty.

Incredible views, really clean and tidy, nice and warm for a winter stay, such fun watching the boats thru the binnoculars. Great fun for children.Rooms: 5/5

We stayed in the unit called "The Lookout" the unit was clean and spacious for our family of 4. It had three levels with the main bedroom being on the top floor with toilet and back garden facing deck with what i would call the best view of the ocean I've ever seen, sunrise and sunset was breathtaking! Second floor was the kitchen, dining and lounge with bed and couch with an ocean facing deck with outdoor seating with an amazing view. ground floor was the bathroom with shower and toilet. the owner popped in the next morning to say hi. Our stay was peaceful and we were very happy with our stay. Thank you!
The website pics were awesome but wait till you get there. We planned on eating out but was too good to miss out immersing in the magical, peaceful view so got takeout and stayed in. Watching the sunset & sunrise colours were gorgeous. The detail of the property shows the love and passion of the owners. So friendly and down to earth - just what we looked for. Would definitely book again. AAA+++
