If you love quality pies, like I do, this is definitely a top 10 pie stop in Aotearoain my opinion. Big, very high quality ingredients, ratios of gravy, filling and pastry as all perfect. Some of the flavours on offer were unique too, a wallaby pie and a massaman curry pie when I went in.nnThe only down side is it's around $12 a pie, the very high end for a pie, you can get high quality pies from around the country for $8 give-or-take. But, these are bloody good so if you like your meat in a pastry parcel get one.nnI had the venison with cream cheese and jalapeño and the massaman curry, both incredible.
The West Coast Pie Co makes excellent pies. The outside pastry was perfectly crisp, while the inside was soft with a slight sweetness that balanced everything beautifully. The filling was generous and full of flavour.nnA really satisfying pie.
Had the Chunky steak and cheese after reading all the reviews, unfortunately I was disapointed. very messy, base just fell apart, top too flakey, cant be eaten with 1 hand, the gravy was bland and the venison flavour over powered by the red chunks of whatever was in it, not a lot of chunks of meat in it either, wouldn't recommend.
Absolutely amazing. 100% worth the detour heading towards Abel Tasman. So fresh and very good quality ingredients, no preservatives or junk ingredients. Highly recommend the classic venison and wallaby pie as well as date scone.
Easily the best pies on the west coast! The pies are large and packed with a wide variety of delicious fillings. The crust is buttery and decadent - can’t wait to come back!!!
