Story

The Vault Cafe is a friendly, family-run cafe located in a historic building on the corner of High Street and Gordon Street, Dannevirke, New Zealand.

We have a wide range of hot and cold meals for breakfast, lunch and in-between. This includes favourites such as the much loved 'big breakfast' (try it - we dare you!), sandwiches, salads, cakes, and gluten free goodies.

We also have an established selection of specialty, Kiwi made goods, including Peanut Butters (eg) LSA blend) made in Palmerston North, Hastings made gourmet chocolates and Honey Wraps, an alternative to glad wrap. We also stock our Hawthorne Coffee and T Leaf Tea selection for you to take home. And recently arrived, Good Buzz Kombucha - something for all, for you or a gift!

Come and see us for great food, excellent coffee, a relaxed atmosphere and free, wireless internet.

We also provide out-catering for local businesses and community groups, and cater for functions. Just give us a call.

This is a fantastic cafe and bistro. A great place to get an afternoon snack or lunch. Interesting history too! Gets very crowded. Tons of outdoors seating assuming it’s warmer though. Definitely check this place out!!
Very nice cafe/bistro with changing lunch specials menu. The food is great and fair price, service is great, sweets and teas are great. Seating inside in a vaulted great hall, or outside, with views to the Radcliffe Camera in central Oxford. Expect some queues if trying to get lunch when most students are also there, but service is usually quite quick.
great lunch. a professor i met at the communal tables said he has been coming here for 30 years, i now know why. apple custard was pretty great too. 1 star off cos toilets werent disability friendly as you need to go up stairs and down stairs.
I hadn't planned my breakfast itinerary for Oxford when I left on the train out of Paddington. Doing a bit of research on the way led me to Vaults & Garden, with its mouth-watering, traditional breakfast menu. I'm very glad I elected to eat here. Whether you choose to dine outdoors with the lovely view of St. Mary the Virgin Church, or inside the Congregation House built in the 1320s for some historical immersion, you're sure to have an excellent dining experience. My Vegetarian Breakfast order landed arrived piping hot and fresh from the kitchen. The protein-packed medley included FAI organic eggs served scrambled, much to the nostalgia of my American palate, dark spinach cooked to wilting steaminess, juicy-ripe tomato, large cuts of sauteed mushrooms, savory-sweet beans, and crispy-browned toast. Best enjoyed with small bites of each food, in no particular order, I left satisfied and energized for the long day of tourism ahead. I only wish I had gone back to try their lunch menu! If you're planning to visit the Bodleian Library, Oxford University, or St. Mary's Cathedral, this is a delicious, affordable option. The food will satisfy your stomach and the breath-taking views will nourish your soul.
Gorgeous setup an atmosphere! A conversion inside an old church right behind the Radcliffe Camera. The staff are some of the friendliest people I’ve met and the food is great! Try the Oxford rarebit
The scone was decent, cream and tea were fantastic, but the jam was very poor. They had 3 homemade flavors and I had the raspberry, and it really was like water with floating seeds and chunks. It had zero flavor and terrible texture. A scone with cream and jam was really expensive and the jam was very disappointing. The tea was great, workers were very patient and friendly, and building was beautiful.
Congratulations! The food was amazing! I hope to open more restaurants in the UK. We had the full Oxford and scones with Rasberrie jam. I totally recommend this place! The best place for food in the UK! Ps. I want the sausage recipe!
Lovely café at the centre of Oxford with an absolutely unique view and experience. Food was good. Price was decent. I would totally go again for that heck of a view. Laptops not allowed from 12-2. Warm service to top it all too :
A good place to have lunch. Decent prices. The Expresso coffee is lacking the taste and strength. The cleaning can bee strongly improve Vegetarian options: Few dishes of salads. Kid-friendliness: Not too much of a menu for kids. Some pastry and cakes available. Parking: No parking available for cars. Bykes only Wheelchair accessibility: Perfectly accessible.
Beautiful historical place, lovely service and good food! Had a delish chocolate fudge cake with americano. We went there as a big group and could easily book a table even though it is always packed inside, the staff was very helpful. Thanks!Recommended dishesAfternoon Tea
