TripAdvisor advises this pub is "Always Open" something I thought was illegal for a pub. The sign outside says "Open Now" so when I went to go inside to book a Thai meal, the place was closed. A sign outside said basically Lunches open mid-day onwards just Friday and weekends, so by phone I booked 10 people for a Friday lunch. When we turned up, everything was locked and the sign replaced to say effectively lunches/ open mid-day only weekends. I rang and got no reply and I had 10 indignant people on my hands. Fortunately, there are two EXCELLENT cafes opposite. PS: Can't post this unless stars are ticked: rooms not applicable, service advertised on their website 10am - late. Fantasy! Nice location. Nearby activities: Weka Pass train. So, so. Local cafes - FAB! Food & drinks: Non-exsistant. Noteworthy details: Nearby eateries.
Had a beautiful lunch of sweet n sour pork with a nice speights old dark to wash it down. Partner had the green curry and was also very satisfied with her meal. We will be back to this nice and welcoming atmosphere.Service: 5/5
Stunning room in a beautiful old building. We spoke to Vicky, the owner, and she said that she looked at every room and made it into somewhere that she would like to sleep. It pays off. There is a well appointed sittingroom with hot drink making facilities and the making of breakfast. There is a full thai menu and also pub food on a separate menu. We would recommend this highly.
Just what you’d expect from a old country pub. Nice cold beer and friendly service. Long Tail Thai operates out of the kitchen there and the Thai food is really good.
Fantastic Hosts. Very Nice spotless rooms, bathroom & linen. Great Food. Highly recommend. Very well run with a great nothing is a problem attitude. We're coming back.
I stayed here for work. It was very welcoming. New management is very friendly, professional and made me feel welcome. Great food as well. You really should try their deserts, sticky date pudding or brownie. Both amazingRooms: 4/5
Dined for lunch and had the 'Catch of the day' nice meal, a wedge of lemon and a wee dash of tartare sauce would of been a 10, the fish was almost the length of the plate, light and fluffy, battered beautifully, fresh salad and crispy fries, but the highlight was the Sticky date pudding, never have I had a sticky date pudding like it, not a sweet tooth melts in your mouth, absolutely worth the drive out served with a very devine ice cream. A very close 2nd was the chocolate Brownie served with ice cream with layers of chocolate in. The new owners very lovely & friendly. Definitely be back
