A quaint coffee shop in a historic post office building. The food was delicious, coupled with warm NZ hospitality makes this the perfect stop en route to Dunedin. We had the full breakfast and French toast. One of our tastiest meals here in NZ!
Great food and service! The only coffee shop I've repeatedly come to when we visit Gore. The eggs benedict is delicious. Thank you for coming to double check when we ordered no bacon! We appreciated it :
Coffee stop strong coffee. Good options for breakfast available although we only had coffee so unable to comment on taste and quality. Range of sandwiches and cakes on offer.
I recently visited your café with my wife and our two children while travelling through the area. We had looked up your place and were looking forward to the experience.nnAlthough we arrived close to the kitchen closing time and understood we couldn’t order from the full menu — which was totally fine — we were quite disappointed with how we were treated. The lady who informed us about the kitchen closure was unnecessarily rude, and we felt disrespected, possibly because it was clear we were foreigners.nnIn the end, we still enjoyed the food that was available — it was genuinely very good — but unfortunately, the unkind reception left us with a negative impression.nnWe’re sharing this feedback in the hope that future guests, no matter where they’re from, will be welcomed in a more friendly and respectful way.
We came down to Invercargill from Auckland between Xmas & New Year and thought we would do some sightseeing as it’s been sometime since I visited my home town Invercargill - so we thought a trip to Gore would be good as I remembered when my mum was alive and I’d come down we would come to Gore for brunch and we would come into this place but I’m sure it wasn’t called The Stable Kitchen then 17 years ago but the food hasn’t changed as I remember it was great then and it’s great now - my husband & I had the same except he had baked beans as well with his -think it was a full English Breakfast very yummy -nIt was a bit chilly this day but there was a heater by our table and a local was kind enough to say put it on there’s a outlet there to plug it in - very friendly people I’ve always said the southerners are a friendly bunch -nThe premises was nice and clean & the staff very friendly-nHighly recommended if passing through Gore and wanting somewhere to have a nice coffee a nice food with friendly staff
