The Speight's Ale House
"Speight’s Ale House Dunedin still trades on the same ‘‘generous to a fault’’ approach it was originally founded on in 1999.And at the Speight’s Ale House Dunedin, the beer is matched to a menu of equal quality.Food has always been a major part of the offering, with a focus on Southern fare, hearty servings, and value for money. The menu has something for every taste, with classics including seafood chowder, blue cod, lamb shanks, steak, venison, and vegetarian options. And of course there’s a superb range of brews on offer, including the original Gold Medal Ale, the Triple Hop Pilsner, Distinction Ale, Old Dark, Empire IPA, and even a cider."

The atmosphere was great. The food was also really good. The only that I wish they would of had on there menu was a nice burger because burgers and beer go really well together. Other then that I would definitely recommend this place. You won't be disappointed
Steak was cooked nicely and the chips were hot and crisp. The recommended beer complemented the meal as well. Staff were friendly and the bathroom was very clean. Only con would be the difficult parking.Food: 5/5
Good pub style food with generous servings and you won't leave hungry. Great atmosphere for drinks, snacks, or dinner. This place doesn't have dedicated parking which is disappointing.
Love the Rataray Street ribs..so juicy and not gamey at all. Fall of the bone meat.. Mm.. The salted caramel cheesecake was a tad bit too sweet and not cheesy. Would do back again to try the lamb shank
Wow! WOW! WOW! What an amazing place. We were so happy with the quality of meals for the price. Highly, highly recommended.
It is a famous beer brand in New Zealand. You can also take a beer tour and drink fresh beer. A must visit if you are in Dunedin
Ambience, food and service are 10/10!! Definitely worth a visit!
Two star experience, with the third star for the host at the start. She was great, really made us feel welcome but sadly she wasn't there for the last half of our time there. After she had gone service was barely existent, plates and glasses weren't cleared away and we had to go to the bar for any further drinks. Steaks weren't very big, were rare instead of medium and had large bits of gristle. It was placed along with the chips onto the salad which itself wasn't dressed so I ended up with plain warm lettuce. Could have done with more gravy too.
Went with my mates and tried - Salmon - 9/10 - Vegan - 8.5/10 - Pork steak - 8.5/10 All are good in taste and no free parking available but plenty of space on the street pay by plate
Food is consistent in quality over several visits, with generous serves. Tasty but not spectacular. Service can be hit and miss - often takes a long time to get meals to the table and staff not checking if anyone needs more drinks. The table we had booked for a larger group was very cramped very close to a wall and nearby table.Food: 4/5
