The fish and chips were absolutely amazing, the chips were fried to perfection, and the squid rings and shrimp were faultless. Portions were good too. Extremely unfortunate that the staff were not up to par. They didn't smile when we were ordering and seemed annoyed that we were deciding what to order. When asked if they have water, we found out that they didn't have cups so couldn't even give us water! We then asked if there were any room temperature water bottles out back that we could grab instead of the cold ones on display and they just said no - seems unlikely that they don't have any extra water? As the building and atmosphere was really nice, it was quite disappointing, it was really confusing because it was almost like they were treating customers like a fast food quick restaurant, yet the restaurant itself doesn't give off this vibe at all.
One of the best fish and chips in New Zealand. Choose the Ribaldo Deepsea Cod. OMG it's done to perfection here. 2nd time in three days. Had to bring some family member to try it. They also agree. Well done steakhouse team. Awesome.
Just been in and had the absolute  best fish and chips ever! Hands down, nothing compares to this place! The staff who were on today work incredibly in sync and are constantly  producing  the best food. Not once, not twice but 3 times we've been in and these two are always putting in their all and it shows! 10/10 to the dude with the earbuds and chick with the tattoos, you guys rock! Will be back!

5/5 to the dude with the earbuds who works on Saturday evenings. He is always friendly, polite, accomodating, serves consistently good portions and cooks the fish to perfection - every single week! Give that man a raise! The only reason for the four star review is because consistency with other staff could be improved to be fair we normally only order on Saturdays so cannot speak for other days/times. We find that when he is not working the portion sizes vary considerably, the fish isn’t always adequately battered or cooked all the way through, and the chips aren’t always drained properly. Other than that, best fish and chips in the area!
Hmm - very average. Fish was tasty; but the chips - now they were disgusting. Dry, tough, oily. It seems they had been sitting around for a long time after being cooked before being wrapped.
Great fish, amazing chips, and they were polite and accommodating when we called in an order right at the end of the day. Sorry for doing that ladies, but you were great.
Possibly the best fish and chips in the world! Absolutely delicious. Well worth a wait and a drive.
4/5, chips slightly overcooked & over salted. The Gurnard was incredible however, worth paying extra for, even though it was half the size of the more common snapper.
I’m a fan of fish & chips, live in Nelson so have tried most of the local stops. This place definitely is the best. Crispy batter with good portions and quality. Regularly visit and have never been disappointed.
