Silky Oak Chocolates produce exquisite handmade chocolates for lovers of fine chocolates. Milk, plain and dairy free options are available.

Story

Silky Oak's handcrafted chocolate range has something for everyone. Whether it's just a tasty chocolate treat or a gift for an event or special occasion. We also have a Dairy Free range of chocolates which are suitable for those who are lactose-intolerant or Vegans.

Today Silky Oak has 3 stores around New Zealand in Hawke's Bay, Lower Hutt and Tauranga.

Here at our base in Hawke's Bay we also have our Chocolate Museum, Cake Decorating Classes, Café and Event Venue.

Hours:
The entire complex opens at 9am weekdays and 10am weekends. The Chocolate shop closes at 5pm Monday to Thursday, 4pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and most public holidays.

Café closes at 4pm each day, and is not open on public holidays

The last entry into the museum is 3:30pm (unless previously booked). This is to allow sufficient time to appreciate the museum at your leisure. The museum is open most public holidays.

Silky Oak Chocolate Co. Chocolate Fudge Cafe Museum Gifts offers an amazing pantry, a souvenir shop, a museum which chronicles the history of chocolates, and an awesome cafe  This place is insane! The parking is good. All the staff are very friendly, and the cake and coffee at the cafe is top notch.  The pantry makes me feel like a kid.. well, in a candy shop. The chocolates and fudge is amazing! There are lots of odds and ends that will make great gifts, even of you're buying for yourself.  The museum was very interesting. I can't believe that arsenic was one of the ingredients that used to go in chocolate.  Absolutely indulge yourself by visiting all three shops. It's a great way to spend a few hours

Now this place was beyond belief.  Cafe and museum and shop. Great and easy parking. Easy access for wheelchair and walker and wonderful service. Very nice place to spend money and time. Must visit when you are in the area.

Friendly staff, generational business, hand made  chocolate in every way imaginable, gifts, cards, museum  shop, Cafe, it's THE PLACE TO BASE YOUR TRIP TO HAWKES BAY NZ FOR..... Grandma brought me here when I was a kid, and the consistency of quality is amazing even after all these years have passed. Thank you Silky Oak, for the memories been, and yet to come.

One of the best chocolate we ever had. The fudges are amazing so are the chocolates. Whole family loving it as I brought back some during a work trip to Napier. Only issue, too many options to choose from

We traveled up from Porirua with my Uncle who lives in Australia and we met the staff and owner. They were absolutely wonderful to meet. We will definitely be back to pop in and grab some amazingly tasty chocolate. We will look at the museum and Cafe our next visit too.Food: 5/5

This place is lovely! Spent a lot of time & money at the gift shop, chocolate shop & café! Good variety of yummmmy chocolates! Staff were nice & friendly! Good chillax place for a cuppa!

Nice cafe! Garlic creamy mushroom is so yummy, very fresh! Chocolate drinks are fantastic. Friendly staff. Plenty of car parks.

Very busy on a weekend - however service at the cafe was pretty friendly and quick. They offer a nice cabinet and breakfast menu.  Enjoyed the exhibit on the history of chocolate! This was actually pretty quiet, we were the only ones walking through for the hour we spent. Heaps of information and lots of fun and quirky displays. Worth a visit.

Love, love, LOVE us an Iced Chocolate; still the yummiest in the land! Bit sad to see the price had increased & we now only receive 1x chocolate bean & no longer get a chocolate twirl on top - those were my favourite; but still a yummy treat even on a cooler day. 6mths later & still a go-to favourite. With a change in times - masks & double-vac proof is required to dine in here now. Grabbed a beef lasagne & a bacon & asparagus quiche to go - along with yummy Iced Chocolates. Yup, those keep us coming back for more!
