Tranquil and relaxing. The Spa was great and very soothing. I had a facial which was incredibly therapeutic. The views from the bar were incredible. The drinks menu was extensive and cocktails were excellent. The bar Manager went out of his way to be engaging and interested in our feedback. The only disappointment was the food in the evening and breakfast. No side orders or vegetables with the meal. I had heart of rump and found it to be dry and without vegetables very heavy going. Breakfast service was slow but loved the idea of the cake stand with treats! I was also disappointed by the pancake stack which said maple syrup only to find ‘golden’ syrup- a huge difference! Would go again but not sure I’d eat off the ‘package’ menu.
My husband & I stayed here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary Staff were fantastic as I had been very sick no fault of the hotelthey brought me tea & toast to our room. My husband did go to the restaurant for his meal & assured me it was delicious!!! Also he enjoyed the fantastic breakfast!! It's a good excuse to go back!!!!! Thanks Salthouse
My family and I have had a wonderful long weekend at The Salthouse Hotel. All rooms and lodges were tastefully decorated and homely. The lodges were very well-equipped with stunning views, 3 great bedrooms and a fun hot-tub. The staff were friendly and professional, and available to help at all times. The family dinner and breakfasts were served in the plushly decorated restaurant with incredible sea views. The service, choice and quality of the food and the atmosphere made this a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Thank you to all the staff. Looking forward to my next visit.
Staff very welcoming and friendly. Check in time of 3 pm is quite late and appears to be very inflexible. Restaurant and spa views are stunning. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast presentation is excellent but bacon serving was miniscule. At dinner we were directed to a table in the bar rather than the restaurant with no explanation as to why.
Nice architecture, well designed, great rooms, eco hotel, lovely bar and restaurant, beautifully decorated. Stayed two nights, found out afterwards there is a package, wasn't offered on initial booking? Lovely spa, needs a bit of thought, nowhere to hang robes outside. The food is a bit hit and miss, nice lunches, lovely starters and desserts, mains are lacking, no seasoning, I would go again but not to eat, staff are very friendly and helpful. A lovely stay but just a little disappointed by food, just my opinion, others loved it all. Rooms: Tastefully decorated, comfortable and warm
We had a great stay here, the views from the bar and restaurant are spectacular, the spa is small and intimate, the courtyard is a lovely sun trap and the staff were all incredibly accommodating, especially Lee the receptionist! Would definitely recommendRooms: 5/5
We dined here on Sunday evening and it was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we were delighted to have a window table to fully enjoy the spectacular sea views. My wife had baked cod and I had the sea bass, we thought the food was excellent and portion sizes just right. Our server was so pleasant, a genuine smile each time she came to the table and very helpful.
We went here for Sunday lunch. Absolutely beautiful location and a great buzz and atmosphere in the restaurant. Good menu choice for Sunday lunch roast dinners with all the trimmings and even managed to squeeze a dessert in...which was a squeeze as the portion sizes are generous!Location: 5/5
We stayed for 1 night on the winter deal. We had all eaten in the restaurant before and were keen to have the full experience. We had 2 rooms booked for 4 people but unfortunately 1 member of our party became ill the evening before and couldn’t make it. We were hoping that the hotel would be able to do something under the circumstances but we were told it was too late and the only thing they could do was change the occupancy of 1 room to 1 person. This saved us a grand total of £15 and We ended up spending £170 on a room that wasn’t used. We would have expected maybe to get a bottle of wine to compensate as a 3 course meal was also included but we were offered nothing. The reception staff were not welcoming at all. We have stayed at other hotels and always received warm welcomes but we were barely acknowledged on arrival and departure and when walking past the desk throughout our stay. We were told we could have the 3 course set menu or choose from the a la carte menu up to a value of £40. We chose the 2nd option and our selections were less than £40 but the desserts were added to our final bill!! After dinner we went to the bar and ordered a cocktail. When I tried to order a 2nd I was informed that they were no longer taking cocktail orders and we should have been told that! To be fair, the barman did accommodate us in the end but it was another detail that left us unimpressed. The hotel itself and the food was first class but unfortunately we all felt that the customer service really let the hotel down.
Beware Christmas offers of romantic breaks. Last year they cost £244. When you avail of your trip they charge you extra if the rates for the trip have risen and only allow each person £40 per dinner, then you are charged whatever the extra is. They don’t tell you this until you book out of the hotel then you get the surprise. Sharp practice one might argue and possibly against the law. Anyway absolutely no point in booking these Christmas offers they just hold your money and give it to you back on booking out. Crazy marketing or what!!!!! Much too expensive for what you get and not easy to get there.
