Stopped in on our way through to Wellington. Unfortunately, in our experience, the only good thing about this cafe was the service from the young woman behind the counter. She was on her own & under pressure, yet she did so well all things considered. The food was terrible. The kids burger and fries my son and I ordered was not great. The fries were only just cooked but not all the way through. The burgers had a very thin cheap, tasteless burger pattie. My husband ordered pan fried chicken, which was very over cooked, the Mac & cheese tasted bland and had clearly been heated in the microwave. Unless they get a new chef or up their game in terms of food quality, and hire staff to take the pressure off the lovely young woman at the front, we won't be going again.
Friendly welcome. Quiet being early Sunday lunch. Food was great. We have found our new Dannevirke stop off option between Wellington and Hawkes Bay.Food: 5/5
Popped in the other day, friendly service, tasty food and yummy coffee!! We had a toddler with us and the lady in the store couldn’t have been more accommodating, putting the heater on in the room for us and providing an alternative baby change option. All round awesome, will pop back again in the future
Nice place, lots of extra touches: free cold water, little desert with drinks. Serve good coffee. Offer lunch specials; I had hot chocolate with cheese scone for five dollar. Friendly smiling staffs.
Excellent small cafe run by local sisters providing quslity cafe food. And the recently reopened movie theatre is there too.Food: 4/5
Took family here for lunch. Arrived not long after 12.45pm. Ordered and paid at 12.50pm. Was advised there would be a 20 minute wait. It wasn't very busy a 4pax at front eating, a 4pax waiting on food and we were a 4pax. We ordered 1x chicken burger w/ side of wedges, 1x beef burger w/ side of fries and a platter for 2 and a raw juice, 3 soft drinks. This totalled $81. 30 minutes later the platter arrives, we are told the burgers aren't far away. 10 minutes later I followed up where the burgers were, the server said sorry, they are on there way and brought slices and a refund for the burgers of $32 advising that burgers were not far away. 60 minutes past approached the server again about food to which they replied oh I thought you didn't want it. I am 5 months pregnant with 1 child that hasn't eaten at this point. I would not recommend, service was terrible and food was mediocre. I have had near 20 years hospitality experience and they definitely need a hospo consultant to teach them the basics of customer service and running a simple kitchen
I thought a veggie stack with homemade bread would be roasted veggies and a nice dressing with maybe foccacia bread or sour dough. I'm sorry to say very disappointed that it was a very thin white bread with a lettuce leaf, two strips of carrot and a slice of tomato with chilli sauce on the side. Rather expensive for that. The very berry gluten free cake was nice and staff were lovely.
Very welcoming! The server puts in the extra effort to make sure you are happy and satisfied with everything, and always has a smile on her face! When I went there last, we ordered and waited for our food. Once the food arrived, it was delicious! the attention to the little things really step it up a notch. And then to our surprise she gave us 4 complimentary slices to apologize for the wait! We were so surprised considering the wait wasn't really too long. All in all, the regent really out done itself and will be the only cafe in dannevirke I'll return to in the future!!
Great food and service
What a real treat when the staff person makes you so welcomed and is a great host. Nice to find a GF muffin that is light and fluffy, the coffee 10 out of 10 with a treat of marshmallows on the side. The Theatre bathroom is available with purchase. Watch the step as you go out, nice that the staff member told you as you left.
