Awesome meals for a great price. Lively atmosphere, very popular bar. Definitely recommend the pizza and the burger of the day.
Come here all the time and really enjoyed the food, but they have recently changed the menu. Would be great if they could bring back the burgers that my partner and I always got: the Hawaiian chick and the pickled cheese. Classics that were filling and brought us frequently into the place, not too sure about the new options.
Sometimes, local pubs are a bit hit and miss. I visited here maybe 10 months ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. My most recent visit - not so much. The service was good, attentive, and quick, but the food was very average. I don't think we'll return.
Always busy, yet speedy service. Every time I come here I get the same thing - the Pickled Cheeseburger - really need to broaden my horizons but it's just soooo good! Best burger I've ever had, anywhere. Big talk! Decent cocktails are a bonus. The Pickle Jar - Karori's not so hidden gem! It's popular for a reason. Love this place.
The weather only allowed to go local. First time in a decade visiting the Pickle Jar. And surprised by the quality of the food and the variety offered. Sport was on, so it was packed and loud, but great atmosphere. Will come back.
Burgers are amazing. Onion rings are THE best! Great service, would visit here again to try the pizza and banana split!Food: 5/5
Ordered the buffalo hot wings and chips & dip. Cooked perfectly. Wings were crispy and coated with a perfect amount of sauce. A nice heat from the spiciness too. Chips were crunchy, golden brown and light and fluffy, and the dipping sauce was a great flavour. Will definitely be back again.
Can be a relatively long wait for hungry children, even if you arrive early. A manager suggested suggested to me I order as soon as I walk in the door, as other whanau do this because of the delays, but not always easy in practise. Suggest picking what you want from the menu before arriving as my quoted 10-15 minutes was actually 40 minutes. This has happened twice in a row and 4 months apart. Great for the pub if you're an adult group and buy more drinks, but not so great for children that start to go feral. Would be good if they could improve efficiency of the kitchen.
Used to come with friends all the time but I can only imagine they have changed the chef and menu, as all our favourite dishes have disappeared the waffle fries, the beef Thai salad, the Caesar salad, the food has declined but the prices have gone up, such a shame. Used to get a five
Great pub with tasty food especially the burgers and a good beer selection. Nice outdoor area to sit with the doggos on a sunny afternoon too.
