The Pantry is a retail shop selling wholefoods and specialty groceries, great barista coffee, and a simple, nutritious food range. As the flagship of the renowned South Alive, The Pantry also features a community kitchen for healthy meal option community sessions.
South Alive bought the former Bin Inn building on the corner or Grace and Ness Streets in South Invercargill and has developed The Pantry into a social enterprise, and community engagement hub.
The Pantry will enable South Alive to become self-sufficient and sustainable. All the profit from The Pantry will be returned to the South Alive Trust, to fund operating costs and community projects.
A passionate team including a manager and trained baristas work alongside a committed team of volunteers at The Pantry and we have a focus on people needing work experience, young people entering the workforce, migrants and new residents.
This project is about taking South Invercargill to the next step - beyond physical improvements to a more resilient, connected community that believes it can help itself.
