The Old Quarter

Had a really great experience at the Old Quarter this evening. We hadn’t booked but managed to get a couple of seats at the bar. Our waiter was quick to serve us despite being busy and when we ordered, explained expected timing of the dishes. The staff seemed happy and were looking after one another during a busy shift which was lovely to see. We ordered 3 things, the summer rolls, the banana leaf salmon, and the tiger prawns pictured. All mouth watering dishes, for me the salmon was particularly delicious, and for my friend the prawns were their favourite. I also ordered their Monsoon Mule cocktail which I can rate so highly I had two!! I see that they have 2-4-1 cocktails on a Wednesday which I will make future use of.

A busy place with a great vibe. The staff are very friendly & accommodating. The food was good but I wasn’t demanding the recipes. I’d recommend 3 small dishes would probably feed two people. The cocktails are ok but I’d probably stick with beer or wine next time. I would go back though.

Very good good, comes out quickly and just at the right temperature. Lovely stuff and always ready to help. The pho is outstanding, the boa are delicious and the curry are as good as the rest. The outdoor seating are nice on a warm summer day or evening.

The place was packed to the rafters with dine in and takeaway customers but the staff were still cheerful and super efficient. The tender beef curry was a flavour explosion with good heat and paired perfectly with a bowl of coconut rice. I couldn't resist a soft shell crab bao bun, which was light, crispy and delicious. What a beautiful meal for my last night in Wellington!

As soon as you walk in you can smell the different flavours in the air. The food tasted amazing and came out quick. Its a perfect spot to get together and share the variety of dishes. The staff were attentive and cleared empty dishes quickly. Would definitely recommend.

I've dined at The Old Quarter twice now within a month and I love it. Definitely the best Vietnamese food I've eaten in Wellington. Great vibe, good friendly service and the kitchen closes late around 10pm, which is quite rare in Wellington. The cocktails are divine and look amazing. I've shared and tried these meals with friends and they're all incredibly tasty: popcorn chicken, soft shell crab bao bun, roast pork bao bun, dumplings, seered sirloin salad, vegan curry, pork belly and pulled beef curry. I was a little disappointed with the salmon and prawn parcels and the rice pancake with lettuce cups in terms of the size and price of the meals, but on the whole the food is delicious. I wouldn't say it's cheap, but all restaurant prices have increased. You definitely need to book a table. I've only ever been able to get an 8.45 or 9pm booking, but that's better than not getting in at all. Vegetarian options: Vegan curry, salads, veg dumplings, tempura eggplant etc

We ordered many items on the list and shared-as it is intended - SO good! Ribs, Bao Buns, Curry, Dumplings,.. Cannot recommend more. Delicious and people are friendly, atmo is right - price is defo worth!Food: 5/5

The food was delicious, I got the $16 vegan lunch option. Especially for the price an amazing deal. Would be nice to have water bottles at the table to not have to wait for refills. Other than that, great experience.Food: 5/5

Absolutely amazing. I never written a food review before but I must this time. Finally found the best Vietnamese @Buncha in New Zealand. The taste is authentic. The grilled pork belly with lemongrass marinated has a zing of charcoal grill flavour, the pork mince is juicy, the springroll is not the best but it adds the crunchy bit into the dish with mushroom flavour. Everything is dancing together with the well balance warm sauce Nuoc Cham of saltiness, sweet, sour and sweet. The value is also good. It is just generous as the Vietnamese people. The place is cosy, casual with minimalism style on cutlery. Great vibes for lunch and after work dinner. I came back the 2nd time to have @Pho. Saw comment on gg review so I wasn't expecting it to be good. But turns out the Rare beef pho was just as good. The broth offers that Beef Pho's unique taste of long cooking beef bones with spices, the meat is soft and juicy. Vietnamese coffee was not the best but it was good.

What’s not to love about this place. Really accomodating and friendly staff. Pork and crab bao buns were amazing. Cashew duck was delish. Dumplings on point! Moscow mule cocktail was so yum! Would definitely recommend and would definitely return to sample the rest of the menu.
