The Sarurday Nelson Market is a must go to if you are in the area. A great place to meet local entrepreneurs with their amazing hand made drawings, carvings cups, swords, spices and all sorts of things. This is a great place to have a coffee, authentic street food, buy gifts, duck eggs, greeneries and so many so many things. Do not miss on the Nelson market thinking that its like all other weekend markets around NZ; it is absolutely not.
We haven't been to a street market that is well presented and supported in years. Good job guys.
I really enjoyed here last Saturday. Nice little food trucks with a great coffee cart too. Kids loved the crepes from one of the vans and the hotdog/sausage van was great food too. Nice little stalls for gifts & clothing too.
One of the best markets I have visited in NZ. Very Arts & Craft with lost of home made foodies to sample and buy. Try the bacon rolls as you stroll round the stalls. I did 3 laps and still was finding stuff I missed on the first two passes.
Nelson Market is quite iconic. It has always in my own opinion catered to a variety of Foods, Coffee, Trinkets and Clothing to tools and many a Gift to be found leading up to Christmas. Art is amazingly beautiful Nelson certainly has an Abundance of Artists many very talented Artists who Showcase their wares etc. I've only given 3 Stars as I've noticed that the costs have increased. I do understand why but some pieces of jewelry or art etc are somewhat over the top price wise. Plus I feel The Market as a whole does not really cater to the Older Patrons The Elder Generation and this is by no means a judgement or anything negative. It is just an observation of mine. . .Apart from not catering to a few select Patrons, I very much recommend going to Nelson Market especially leading up to Christmas. Enjoy
We had heard about this iconic market and so made an effort to visit. We had a lovely stroll in the sun chatting with locals, eating and buying some local crafts. There was a nice mix of items for sale including different ethnic food outlets. There was a interesting cart selling NZ kai which included their own health based drink which we tried and very nice it was. They seemed quite innovative with what they are doing. As I am part Dutch I got lured by the familiar smells of the Dutch food cart and did try the Dutch donut which was delicious. They did tell me their filtered coffee was the best and I would not go back to drinking espresso- sorry, it wasn't the best and I definitely will continue to drink espresso coffee. We came across a lovely NZ merino store, and a ceramic stand Clay Art where I had a bit of a spend up on crosses which I collect. She had lots of lovely modern designs and colours. I was expecting more NZ made clothing- there was a bit of imported clothing, but overall the feeling of the market was lovely. Would have liked it more if they closed a little later. I love local markets and would definitely visit again.
I had an absolute blast at the market this Saturday just passed. I bought a lot and would have bought more if I wasn’t flying home. Amazing apple selection at really cheap prices. Great artisan cheeses. Yummy breakfast options at reasonable prices. I even went home with some handcrafted items
Always a worth a few hoirs on a Saturday morning even if you are local and not a tourist. Great vibe, lots of amazing local creativity on display and excellent range of foos vans. If your a visitor to this part of the world you must check these markets out.
Excellent local food and goods. Highly recommend. If they’re there, try the macarons from Millie’s Macarons.
Variety of local products, fresh fruit, vegie, honey, beauty care, craft and so on. Cashless available.
