After hearing great things I was slightly disappointed. The location is fantastic although it might not be so in winter. Plenty of outdoor seating. The mussels were as expected, but I thought a little bland. I have to admit mussels aren't really my thing unless they are marinated. The fish was alright, if a little overdone and ot fresh that day. Drinks were great, their home made feijoa cider was nice and refreshing and the Captain Cook Manuka beer was lovely. BTW, longdrops for toilets at a restaurant is not an enticement in my book!
We had a great meal and some tasty brews here while in 5he area. Food was delicious, the service was prompt and friendly. Music on some evenings. Ample parking and seating both indoors and outside. Would stop there again.
Nice vibe, but the service is too slow it took us 50 minutes to get our dishes and, I came after as I hunting for a spot to seat in a table and, just for adding another dish to our order, they really believed I was going to queue again... gosh, I do not want to make another order, I want to add something to an existing one... and, honestly, the food is not up to the expectations we really thought better about the mussels, which are not bad, they are good, but in Chirstchurch I can find mussels from Havelock $5/kg and they are much better... also, anything else but mussels was not that good
Great little stop off for a craft beer and yummy mussels. Awesome atmosphere filled with loads of stories
A great venue with amazing atmosphere, lots of personality & a fun vibe. No wonder it has become an institution here! Be sure to try some of their many home brews!
We hadn’t been to Mussel Inn for 25 years but as were back in this beautiful part of the world and visited this evening. It was as if I had stepped back half a century, everything seemed just the same and just as delightful. Great beer, food and ambiance. May Mussel Inn continue in its wonderfully laid-back way into the future.
The Mussel Inn is the best live music venue in NZ. The food, beer, and hosting is unparalleled! You can thank me later.
Great place. Not a huge food choice, but enough to get by. Good staff and nice location. Food and drink prices are reasonable. The night we were there we had any unplugged session by Sassafras, it was great.
Lovely place and friendly staff, I was there in a group of nine and unfortunately no one at the table had much to say about their meals. In my own opinion along with a few others, there was just no flavour. My Nacho’s were dry and tasteless. Unfortunate as it’s such a lovely place to visit.
The signature food “Seafood chowder” is worth trying to taste! The outside seatings are wonderful. The popular place for local people as well as tourists.
