Mamaku Roost is a very special place not to be missed during your West Coast travels. It's located at a surprising site just a couple of minutes from downtown Greymouth. In what first looks like a regular neighborhood, you suddenly arrive at a gorgeous piece of land, with stunning vast green sheep paddocks and a spectacular fern filled hillside right next to the house. The house is beautifully decorated and a huge space for you to enjoy compared to most other places costing much, much more. Finally, if you enjoy animals, visit here is just pure joy. You can feed the sheep and their babies by hand, admire an adorable fat huffing pig, witness the countless chooks kicking the dirt with their goofy animations while regal roosters watch over them. Finally, there are two hilarious Jack Russel terriers, one a wild young one, the other a mature gentleman. Despite their age difference, they wrestle over the same plastic plate like a couple of furry gladiators. Such great fun the whole stay.
The Mamaku Roost is such a great place to stay. Love the decor which makes the accommodation so homely. Kim and Glen are fabulous hosts and we will back to stay, hopefully in the spring.
This is a fabulous place to stay. Beautifully clean, completely private with own entrance, a lovely big bedroom, large lounge with fireplace, well equiped kitchen and modern bathroom, shower area. Enjoy sitting on the verandah watching the sun go down. Lovely native forrest area and animals to interact with. This is a special place to relax and recharge. Kim and Glen are very welcoming hosts and do everythig to make your stay special.
Second time staying. I'm glad we had longer this time. Cosy fire and plenty of firewood. Best shower, comfy huge bed and lots of room, fast wifi. Kim is a fine host, as is their honey. Will be back
