Good place to visit. I celebrated my birthday there with my partner we had great 2 h swim and dinner in the restaurant. Romantic place the only one thing is the hot pool is to small and not deep enough, the rest is just perfect. I didn't feel myself as in the city , I felt like in the middle of nature beauty. The food was great as well. As a gift I got amazing dessert I have no idea how you guys know I love pistachios but I got the cake with pistachio exta thank you for that. Will definitely come back
Review from our visit in June 2024nnWe had a fantastic experience at The Lost Spring! The food was absolutely delicious, well-priced, and served in generous portions. We tried the fish and chips, smoked chicken salad, and bruschetta – each dish was fresh and full of flavour. The cocktails were equally impressive, beautifully crafted and perfect for unwinding in the serene setting.nnA special mention to the owner, Alan Hopping, who was incredibly warm and hospitable. He took the time to chat with guests, sharing the fascinating history of the venue and getting to know us. The staff reflected this same welcoming and caring culture, making the experience even more enjoyable.nnWhile the pools were lovely, the number of available options felt somewhat limited. Given the long and challenging drive from Auckland, it may not be the most worthwhile destination if you've experienced larger thermal retreats like Peninsula Hot Springs in Melbourne. However, if you're looking for a more intimate and boutique-style experience, it’s still a great spot to visit.nnWe opted for the All-Day Signature Package, which offered great value with its inclusions – delicious cocktails, a generous grazing platter, and a rejuvenating facial treatment. It’s a wonderful choice if you’re looking to indulge in a full day of relaxation.nnOverall, The Lost Spring is a charming and unique retreat with fantastic food, drinks, and hospitality. Worth visiting, especially if you appreciate a more personal and tranquil setting.nnWould we return? Maybe not regularly due to the distance, but it’s definitely worth experiencing at least once!
We had a most fabulous experience. I host Awaken Your Inner Goddess Retreats from my Saqqara Mystery School, and one of our favourite places is The Lost Spring. No matter what the weather, you are transported into another world. Thanks to the owner's insight and creativity, you experience a world of hidden wonder! So impressed with the service and the cocktails in the pools WOW!
Pricing has gone up significantly since I last visited. Out of the 3-4 pools, only the crater pool is reasonably hot/suitable for winter. Meals offered onsite were average.
Soaking in the hot springs at The Crater Lakes during winter is absolutely amazing! This pool has a perfect temperature, while another pool is slightly cooler but deeper and longer—great for swimming. There’s also a smaller, slightly warmer pool called Waterfall Bathtub, but it’s always crowded and hard to get a spot, which is a bit of a shame. They also have a cold pool, though no one uses it in winter—it might be refreshing in summer. The surroundings are beautiful and tranquil, making it an ideal weekend getaway spot to relax and unwind.nnThey offer free cold tap water, and you can also order drinks. We tried the Bubbles and Peach Cocktail and the Lychee Poolside Mocktail—both were delicious! They also have a $36 platter that looked amazing. Definitely want to try that next time.nnWe booked the $99 per person package, which includes 2 hours of swim and soak time plus a main dish at the restaurant. We ordered the Eye Fillet Tenderloin medium cooked and the Pulled Lamb Wellington—both were pretty good. Having a nice hot meal after a relaxing soak was just perfect!
