Just stumbled across this place after following a sign trail from Shakespeare park for Cornish pasties. It was a real treat, we had a few different things to try, and the coffee was also very good. We will definitely be going back to try more goodies. It’s also on the marina so a lovely view too. Thank you for staying open in what must be a very difficult time
Having moved from Hobbs Wharf Markets to Gulf Harbour even better to get to Food is awesome. Sean's Homemade Lemonade is very very nice and a must try along with the Fruit Cake Ice Cream - WOW, Sean has hit that one on the head especially if you're a connoisseur of fruit cake. Sean roasts his own coffee and having tried a long black it was very nice indeed.
Follow the signs for cornish pastriws and be patient. Its almost at the end of the wharf. If you go there you wont miss it. + pastries really good + very good pie blackberry, they didnt have raspberry at the time + my gf enjoyed coffee there + lovely lady and staff - a little bit pricey, but worth the money spent around 36 for two pastries, pie and coffee - dont accept paywave or visa so be prepared ideally with cash or eftpos. A map of all cornish places in New Zealand is really nice touch. Gonna visit some of them for sure! And nice mosquito net at the window preventing insects to fly into your freshly made pastry.
Quality pasties and great service. The pies are better than the garbage the bakeries put together with all the gelatin filler and lack of meat. Highly recommend. I will be back!
I really enjoyed the Cornish pastie. I have never tried such a yummy thing before. The fruit pies are yum too because the pastry is several textures like crunchy crust and thick with sweet bits but not all full of sugar, margarine and msg stuff like the bakeries' ones. I like Kitchen Door ones because seems traditional and is wholesome to dig into. The regular lunch size meat pie was probably a bit on small side but the pastie was a good feed almost on its own.
We bought 3 pasties: chicken tikka masala, veggie pasty and kiwi steak & cheese pie. I could not even eat half of the veggie pasty as the pastry is so extremely thick and dry. The filling was basically just swede and onion.. so disappointing! Same goes for the other two. Dry and not much flavour. I’ve never seen my partner not demolish a meat pie but he could not even eat this. And the bill? $33 for these 3.. very disappointing!
Way overpriced! Won’t come back. Pies are small and only half filled. Get way better value for money next door at Ripples. Highly disappointed. Not worth $12.50 each
Shaun continues to make the best pies, very tasty and filling. Good to see his business thriving in it's new location.
We finally got round to following the signs to the Cornish pasties and were not disappointed! Such a good find, Sean was lovely to talk to and his products are well worth the drive! I was very pleasantly surprised to find he also offered gluten free options! Coffee was great to! We will definitely be coming back to bring a batch home with us!
Delicious home made pork pies and pasties. Well worth the visit if your in the area and if your not...you have to make the trip. Sean owner is lovely, chatty and friendly.
