Wow what an experience!!nWe celebrated a birthday at the restaurant. They went above and beyond to make our evening special. The food was amazing, great value for money and most of all the staff and service was exceptional.nThank you so much!!
We didn't stay in the rooms but we had drinks from bar and a meal.nService wasn't great. Barmaid couldn't pour a beer.nThe waitress was nice but the food was not great. The scotch steak wasn't even the size of my palm. It has 2 tiny pieces maybe a quarter of potato a tiny piece of pumpkin and 2 tiny carrots.nThe chicken schnitzel was large but the chicken was so bland. The coleslaw dressing was unedible.nI thought the other reviews sounded harsh to I tried.nThe toilets were not nice and could do with a good clean.nThe dinning area was so loud too we could barely hear each other.
We had the most amazing function at the Portside bar, my daughter’s 1st birthday! The staff were absolutely amazing, the venue was open, bright and very clean. Vickie made organising super easy!nnWould highly recommend for any event!
Firstly, this building is a lovely old heritage building, dated 1851.nHowever, the owners and staff have let this historical building and business down, due to poor service, lack of cleanliness and a mismash of furnishings and alterations not in keeping with a historical building such as this.nnWe were booked to stay for 2 nights, however as our room was so uncomfortable, we left early the next morning. Having stayed only 1 night.nnOur check in procedure was less than satisfactory, with staff leaving us to stand at the bar for 20 minutes while we waited to be checked in.nnWe were charged $440 dollars for what was described as a 'Deluxe room' with en-suite.nThis room was far from 'Deluxe'nnAlthough the En-suite must have cost a fortune to put in, the design was not in keeping with the period style of this building.nThe window frames throughout our room were covered in cobwebs.nnThe room felt dirty.nWe had to wear slippers as the carpet felt 'unclean'nnThe bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. We woke with a sore back the next morning.nnThe TV did not work.nnWe had no bed side lighting.nnWe had to ask for Towels, flannels and a bath mat.nnLarge pieces of paint was peeling from the ceiling.nnWe had only 1 old rocker chair to sit on.nnNo table or chairs to sit at and eat food on, or use our computer.nnThe room had what I described as a 'Dirty smelly sock smell'nnWe had to go down to the office to ask for the 'complimentary' wifi password.nnWe had no tea or coffee making facilities in our room, which we would have expected in a 'Deluxe room'nWe only found out the morning we left that there was a communal kitchen in the hallway with coffee facilities, however it had no complimentary coffee or milk. Go figure.nnWhen we booked in, it was late, so we decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant which was a far from acceptable experience. The food was not as described.nnWe ordered a bottle of wine with our meal only to have 1 glass of wine delivered to the table, while I was left with nothing, having to then go and ask for the 'bottle' i ordered and a glass for myself.nnAll in all, not a good experience for us and quite a sad reflection on Waiuku.nBe advised. This is a pub with rooms, not a hotel.
Dinner at The Kentish Hotel was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were lovely and very generous. Will definitely go back
