The Kauri Museum is NZ's best kept secret that has an element of surprise, located approximately 90 minutes drive north of Auckland. The 4500 sq meters internationally famous Museum is Northland’s largest undercover attraction. It offers something to amaze all, with stunning collections and interactive, hands-on displays.

Must Do. $25 Gets you a 2 day visitors pass. So much to see & do, I would visit over 2 days. Incredible place, too much to take in over 1st visit, need to spend 2days. 3 good Campgrounds close by. My pick would be Pahi.
Awesome museum to visit. This could literally take up half a day with the amount to see inside. Love that they have student discounts as well. Beautiful gift shop which I purchased some earrings. We have loved in Northland for years and we had a fantastic time looking through the museum. Great for locals and tourists!!

A totally absorbing experience, I lost several hours and would have stayed longer had the museum not been closing. Very comprehensive range of exhibits, made real with lifelike recreations, quirky facts, and loving attention to detail. Could be a whole day experience if you have the time.
Stunning place. Good value for money. Fantastic for the whole family. Get ready to spend at least 3 hours exploring. Lots of interactive things that you can push and listen to and watch. A great record of early European history. Activities are on split levels and are also outside. A must for any visitor to the area.
Absolutely mind blowing could have spent all day there. And the cafe across the road the pies are delicious
This was totally awesome. To be able to see the kauri wood furniture, and how they worked with the wood in those days. The kauri wood is totally unique.
