About

Welcome to the K9 Adventure Co. We get out and about - town, rural, bush and beach. We walk, hike, swim, and occasionally get lost exploring. We walk rain, hail and shine, five days a week.

Story

This began with a German Shepherd named Whisper. Forget walking around the same boring old block day in day out - this lady needed things to do and places to see! We've gone through many pairs of shoes over the years, gone to heaps of cool places, learned heaps of cool little tricks and bits and pieces to challenge her mind and generally, she's kept me very busy!

Whisper is also very uncomfortable with overexcited dogs and dogs that come charging in and get in her personal space. Dogs that leap all over her and dogs that bully. She warned the dogs she was very uncomfortable but they didn't listen, and it created more of a problem each time she had an interaction, leaving her with few social options. Despite her outbursts she's not an antisocial dog at all - she loves calm company - and she got very lonely.

We needed a solution so we created one. As mentioned above, we did a lot of walking - and we were keen to share all those cool places
with other dogs. And Whisper is not the only dog that is uncomfortable with the pressure an intense dog brings to the table, so we really wanted to provide an environment where dogs could be more comfortable.

Our aim is to provide big walks to interesting places, and a pack with rules, boundaries and structure so everyone can enjoy themselves.
Socialisation is a big part of our service, and that's not just dogs meeting other dogs. It's walking past lawnmowers, people, horses, trucks. Experiencing 'scary' things like flapping flags and road cones. Or noisy things like cars backfiring or fireworks. Learning to sit down and watch things instead of tearing off after them. Every little bit counts.

All of our dogs have different natures, strengths and weaknesses and we work on them a day at a time.
