After scouring most of Africa and India, I would say this is undoubtedly New Zealand's best authentic Indian restaurant. Compliments to the chef and the tandoor oven. The Samon stater was absolutely devine and the Prawn Tikka Masala was better than most found in Northern India. Trust me, as a Durbanite, I know my curry. P. S. Bunnies not served here... yet.
The chicken tikka was my favorite. Travelled out of area to visit here. Plenty of to go orders going out the door which was a good indication of the food. Service was abit slow but over all a good meal.
Wow, wow, wow!! My friend and I came here for dinner last week and we were absolutely blown away. Firstly, the customer service was great. The dining room was dimly light which gave a more intimate, private feel to a relatively small eating area. But the star of the night was the food - WOW! I have never had Indian food quite like it, best I have ever had hands down - the best meal I have had in a very long time in general. We ordered a few things off the menu and everything was just fantastic. We literally walked away saying 'Wow!'. Vegetarian options: Lots of options for Vegetarian diets.
On Tuesday the 16th August my son and I were coming home after an early evening appointment and decided to have dinner out before going home. I decided to have a quick look while driving down the main street and seeing what was available. The Indian Restaurant in Tuakau was displaying $15.99, Mon Tue Wed, Any Curry & Rice, Dine in Only, 4pm till late night. So, in we went and ordered our meals. When I was about to pay my son pointed out to the owner that the pamphlets on the counter displayed a different price to the advertised price on the wall outside. The pamphlets on the counter were advertising the same dinner deal but with a lunch price of $12.99 and my son was trying to be helpful with the fact that they contradicted the outside price. The response from the owner "We don't do that anymore" I said to her that outside it said $15.99 for a main and rice and that we had come in because of the sign, and she replied with, food had gone up and that I should have asked when I was given the menu. I said that I realise that food has gone up but that is not the point, the point is I saw an advertised price and entered because of it and it should be honoured. She did not agree, she did not apologise and in fact charged me full price and said that they need to take the sign down. I told her that it is not right to not honour that advertised price as it is false advertising and that I would not be returning. I have had a busy time and haven't managed to make a formal complaint but was in Tuakau today 13th September and the advertised price is still outside displayed on the wall for people to see. I live in Tuakau and it has been on the wall ever since we were there for dinner that night. As much as it is lovely food, as much as covid and costs have increased it is not right that the owner of an establishment does not see that it is wrong to advertise a price and then charge more on payment and still continues to advertise that price. I will not be back. I posted this in August, it's nearly Christmas and they are still displaying it on the front of their restaurant. They have never contacted me to discuss.
Not warm welcoming staffs. Felt attitude problem with staff who serve us. Doesn't feel any positive vibe there. Vegetarian options: India veg and non veg eatery. Kid-friendliness: Got kids menu in their menu. Parking: Got off street car parking.
It was 40 min wait time for our dishes which is reasonably as sat is quite busy. But I got my order after more than 1 hour wait. We ordered butter chickenmedium which came as hot & it doesn’t taste like butter chicken at all. Disappointed
Number one butter chicken! I treat myself every Tuesday to a butter chicken combo, not only rich in flavour but awesome in quantity best out here! Staff here in Tuakau is really polite and humble, Highly recommended
Not a very good experience. With all the suggestions to go here you would think its fantastic, but Ginger in Pukekohe is 100000000x better, even after a 20 minute drive home. Not really worth the try but glad I did. Won't go backFood: 1/5
Absolutely delicious food every time we order, they do the best vegetable Samosa, and the customer service is always excellent. Highly recommend, best Indian cuisine around!
We had a bad experience. I ordered butter chicken and naan for dinner times two.. I found a knuckle of grisle and a fragment of bone. Meaning smashed. The naan was very thin. I got an upset stomach the next day. I love butter chicken but this was bad. I bought it about a month ago. Two orders for two house holds with the same experience. I just had butter chicken from my town. I was reminded of the quality difference. I left a review. I did not realise this was an open argument with the establishment/owner. Responding to you now and reading past comments.. I don't wish to be threatened or to be compared to anyone else. One bad experience is enough.
