The Icehouse: Where Kiwi Businesses Grow

Story

We believe in the extraordinary potential of New Zealand business owners and entrepreneurs. We enable their success through knowledge, connection and investment.

New Zealand is a country of small and medium-sized businesses. The Icehouse was founded in 2001 in recognition of the importance of this sector to the NZ economy. We’re committed to creating a high performing New Zealand economy where ideas and businesses thrive. We believe that to unleash the economic potential, we need to lift the capabilities and aspirations of owners, entrepreneurs and people who run startup and SME businesses to enable them to take the business forward.

Since 2001, we have worked with over 5,000 ambitious owner-managers and entrepreneurs. On average our established businesses grow revenue by 12% every year, meaning they grow 2.5x faster than the average NZ business. Our startups have collectively created over 900 jobs, raised more than $117m in funding and have generated over $325m in revenue.

The Icehouse is owned by a not-for-profit trust and backed by the financial support and expertise of the New Zealand government and an extensive group of committed partners that includes: AJ Park, Bank of New Zealand, Deloitte Private, HP New Zealand, Microsoft New Zealand, Spark, Visa and our founder The University of Auckland Business School.

"The Icehouse is where Kiwi businesses grow. From startups to established businesses, we can help you take your business further."

I had visited this establishment in 2016, it was a good experience. A kind of indoor bar all made of ice. We would take our shots and then the ritual said you had to throw your glass and would break on its own.
Find space for your startup here. You’ll get the mingle and work along other entrepreneurs in a productive environment. Located in a very interesting looking building, architecturally speaking. You’ll find a meeting room or space anytime you need it.
Nice retro building, however the lift never works very well. The distribution of the offices is interesting, and they have good infrastructure for startups to set up in a short period of time.
Great location for startups. Excellent environment, stimulating coworkers, and great support available.
The atmosphere at the icehouse is always lively and welcoming and the people there are an absolute joy to work with : also the snacks on Friday are a bonus
Seems to just have a lively and productive atmosphere when walking in. It's a collaborative working space with some interesting furniture if you want to work in isolation
I sent an email requesting information about the wanaka icehouse but icehouse didn’t respond. If been in business for 20 years and by anyone’s standards this company is really bad at their own business. And they teach business courses!!!
Tim Shnaider, Spoke to him for 20 seconds. Far too precious, far too many personal issues. Posturing to substance ratio off the charts. Hard to consider anyone from icehouse after this
First rate business trainers. The whole WineWorks management team have now trained here.
Great atmosphere and utilities. The regular events in the evening can be annoying when trying to work late
