The Havens, Motueka River Valley

About

Welcome to The Havens, a Breathing Space for your Soul. Our boutique accommodation sits above the banks of the Motueka River, nestled between pasture, olive grove and native bush.

Story

Welcome to The Havens, Motueka River Valley.
Nestled along the banks of the Motueka River in Tasman at the top of the South Island, The Havens, Motueka River Valley is a boutique resort providing relaxing private accommodation with the services that are normally associated with boutique lodge – personal reception, information and assistance during your stay, and a chance to connect with your hosts.
The Havens is a small farm of about 23 Hectares including pasture and native bush reaching from the river bank to the top of the ridge, 400m above sea level. The accommodation will take both families and couples, providing a peaceful and comfortable stay in high quality, individual lodges.
Located about half way between Ngatimoti and Tapawera, The Havens Motueka River Valley is about 2kms south of Woodstock, where Dovedale Road joins Motueka Valley Highway. We are about 25 minutes outside Motueka, 15 minutes from Upper Moutere (where the Moutere Inn provides great food and craft beers on tap, and there is a small superette, takeaway and fuel station), 55 minutes from Nelson airport. We are immediately adjacent to the Kahurangi National Park, and a short drive from some great walks up Mount Arthur.
The first unit to be opened, The Sanctuary, provides a large single room bedsit, with divided kitchenette, separate shower and toilet, and a large north facing deck with private spa pool. The unit is close to the main house, while remaining private, and has parking immediately outside. We can provide breakfast (our own free range eggs, homemade jams and chutneys, and as well as your choice of raw or pasteurised milk with your tea and coffee). We can pre-stock the fridge with meals for you to cook if requested too – just let us know your requirements in advance.
Additional services include airport transfers, a courtesy car while you are here (we have a 23 year old Toyota 4WD which will get you pretty much anywhere on very little petrol!), and we are happy to assist with tourism information, fishing guides or book you with any of the many trips and attractions locally.
Trout Fishing is a passion for some – and Richard is always keen to share his interest and knowledge with anyone who will listen…. The world renowned Motueka River has a large Brown Trout population – the crystal clear waters making them a challenge to catch. However many of the tributaries such as the Baton, Whangapeka provide easier small stream fishing with some large fish. In the surrounding region we have some of the world’s finest wild trout fisheries – and Richard will be more than happy to point you (or even take you time permitting) to some favourite spots if your keen. We can arrange a guide for backcountry fishing or advanced tuition if you like, though we would be happy to provide you with equipment, a day license and some basic tuition if you are just starting out.

"Luxury farm stay accommodation on the banks of the Motueka River, surrounded by olive trees and native bush. Enjoy a private hot spa under the stars, relax in our luxurious Sanctuary studio flat, meet the sheep or walk the farm to enjoy views of the river valley, Mt Arthur and the Kahurangi ranges."

Awesome place to stay, unbeatable view from the outside deck which is super enjoyable from the available spa. Hosts are great and happy to help out in any way, they even provide fresh baked bread every day!!! All in all a great retreat to enjoy a relaxed holiday at. They also have a great bushwalk available if you're interested.
