Lovely man serving and a warm fire on a cold night. Food was underwhelming- brisket was dry with hardly any sauce, buttered beans weren't buttered but feta-ed, mashed spuds had little flavour. Nice chips though. Would visit again for the fire, wine and chips, but not a meal.
Josh the singer was great, although lady at the bar was extremely rude - asked a simple question about the alcoholic slushie in which she had a very sarcastic and rude response did not even answer the question - immediately made us not want to eat there. I ordered the grand burger and chips first out of my family and had received my meal after everyone had finished eating and only because I had to ask the server where it was as they forgot my order. I was disappointed with the service and unhappy I had to eat alone . Only one man working on the floor on a Saturday who was lovely but clearly they need better management and staff. Has good potential.
Absolutely loved our experience. Bar lady was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Great outdoor seating. Music playing was great and relaxing environment. The food was great. And very well priced. I would highly recommend a place to go to if you in Akaroa
Have been coming here for a couple of years now whenever we visit Akaroa, on a few occasions have made a day trip from Christchurch to have dinner here and spend the day in akaroa, food has always been fantastic, love the Alcaholic ginger beer on tap, food is always fast and staff always wanting to serve. Have had burgers, pizzas, seafood chowder, steak, nachos, pita bread, fries pasta all of which have always been great, love this place will continue coming here for dinners!
I visited the Grand Hotel a week before Christmas with my husband and two grandchildren. We did not have a good experience. In my opinion the food was inedible. The fish was old, very dry. Th fat it was cooked in was old, as the batter was dark. When I cut into the battered fish, the fish was barely there, as it was so limp dried and flat. We left our uneaten meals. I advised the staff why I was leaving. They did apologise, but did not offer a refund.
