My partner and I loved Good Home Takanini. It was our first time there, and we most definitely will be back. Service from arrival right up until the end was top tier. We were seated on a single table because it was just the two of us, but then the staff kindly moved us to a bigger table after seeing that our table was too small for all the food we ordered lol really appreciated that. I had the cheese & garlic pizza, oysters & half rack pork ribs. I ordered with my eyes because by the time I had eaten one rib, I was already full lol. My partner had the buttermilk squid, garlic bread & the carbonara. The carbonara portion was huge. My partner has a big appetite but even he couldn’t finish it lol. We loved everything that we ordered lastnight! The food, service & atmosphere was 10/10. Highly recommend this place no complaints from me. We can’t wait to come back!

Where do I start?! The Good Home Takanini hosted my son’s 21st birthday on 3rd January 2026, and we were fortunate to exclusively hire the entire venue for 160 guests. From start to finish 6pm to midnight, the experience was exceptional. If you’re looking for the best private event venue in Takanini or South Auckland, this is it! My main contact was Hazel, who was incredibly helpful, prompt communication, attentive to detail, and generous with her knowledge and recommendations. The entire team, from front of house to the kitchen were nothing short of amazing. They were flexible and accommodating, extremely helpful, and genuinely warm throughout the event. A special touch that stood out was when they surprised my son with a birthday cake of their own. Every staff member had a smile on their face from beginning to end, which made the night even more memorable. The food was a big factor for us and every guest commented on the quality and generous portions. A big thank you to the Chefs for all your hard work. At the end of the evening, the staff kindly packed takeaway plates for all our guests, such a thoughtful gesture! Also want to say a big thank you to Eloise for her amazing service with ensuring I had everything I needed and checking in throughout the night. We utilised the outside bar for a bar tab option and the inside bar for guests who wanted top-shelf drinks, cocktails, and shots. They even provided a security guard for peace of mind. We had a photo booth and DJ set up, and everything ran seamlessly. Bonus points for being child-friendly! Families with kids were well catered for, which made the event inclusive and stress-free. If you’re planning a birthday party, private function, or special celebration in Auckland, I highly recommend The Good Home Takanini. The team truly went above and beyond to make our celebration unforgettable. Thank you, team, so much for your help and making my sons night so special. I have dealt with so many venues and hosted functions, and you guys are THE BEST! My biggest regret was not getting photos of the venue set up and food .... but trust me when I say it was amazing!!
Insanely delicious, easily a 10/10, so great I even left a $10 tip and I never tip lmao Steaks were buttery and cooked to perfection, kids Bento boxes were next level, seafood chowder was the BEST we've ever had and the chicken roulade was the perfect blend of creamy, savoury and sweet. Portions are HUGE, you definitely get your money's worth!! Defs book before you come because theyre so popular due to amazingness.
