WOW!!! This place is just beautiful Easy check-in and check out, rooms were consistent most hotels in relation to size and features. We had a lake view room and it did not disappoint! We had a choice of an upstairs or downstairs room, we choose the downstairs and thank goodness we did because we had our own little private court yard and could walk straight out to the lake. See the photo from our room looking at the lake.
Amazing place to stay. Cool view from the room. Very close to the lake which was great as you could walk there. Really big shower and all the facilities were nice and clean. Nice big bed aswell.
This place is hugely overpriced, the rooms are small and it’s looks like they haven’t been renovated since they were built in the 70s. There is no a/c and no fans and no security for sliding door, there are no fly screens either. The view of the lake looks over a dusty car park full of camper vans etc. there is nowhere in the room to sit to have a wine. The bed was terrible! My advice to you is book some where else.
Check in was long and tedious. 1 staff member on at check in which was after 2pm we arrived at 2.45pm. Room wasn’t ready, had to ring housekeeping to find out room was ready???? Room was below average. Shower is shocking no water pressure and a stupid tap that didn’t turn on easy. Door didn’t lock, toilet wouldnt flush unless you flushed twice! What a waste of water. Linen stinks like it’s not been cleaned. Room also stinks. Restaurant doesn’t open at night, bar doesn’t open at night? Not many options for dinner as you must pre book every place so unless you know in advance you can’t get dinner. The lake is lovely but seriously drive in look at the lake and drive out again. Totally overpriced and underwhelming. Walkability: Easy walk to the lake. That’s it’s only positive.
Nice rooms and very helpful and polite reception staff. Views from the Cafe are great too downstairs and the social area is scenically beautiful too. The hotel did have a 3 hour power cut one evening however it didnt bother us too much and was eventually restored!
Godley might not be the best way to describe the hotel... Pro's: really close to the lake, restaurants and supermarket. All within 5 min walk ing distance. We started with a room in the 210-220 block. Room was outdated, but had everything needed, was spacious and clean. Con'S. The same room /block was situated at the Road side, so expect quite some noice from the road, like heavy trucks, even at night time. Isolation was also very bad, so you can hear the neighbours and others walking downstairs. Beds were the worst, they were saggy/collapsed. After a complaint, which they handled fast, good and friendly, they upgraded us to a superior room. Looked much better and the beds were good. Room was a bit smaller also less noisy. The room was a bit warm, but you can't keep Windows open because of the bugs and mosquitos. Judging by the dead insect on the walls and ceiling others had the problem as well. They should place some bugscreens. I had no problems with the WiFi. All in all I would not stay again.
The only advantage was a really nice man working on reception checking us in. It looks quite nice on the Pictures you can find in the Internet bu the reality is different. Thank God we stayed here only for one night. The rooms are without A/C, our room had the view of the motorway and the other side at the parking. You can hear everything what's going on outside and in the room next door, the fridge works really loud next to your bed so it's hard to get some sleep. The bathroom looks old and during the night you can hear the shower leaking. On top of that I got skin allergy after sleeping there. Whole room needs general renovation. I would not recomend anyone to stay there until it's done.
Front desk staff very fantastic- very friendly and welcoming. Room was very dated, as others had said, and the double bed actually wasn’t big enough for both my husband and I- we had to sleep in separate beds for the night. It was very hot in our room also, so we didn’t have a great night’s sleep. Location was excellent, although if you’re planning to get dinner, be warned that everything closes very early! The big breakfast at the Jack Rabbit cafe was delicious- definitely recommend this- however I also ordered a berry muffin, which was horrible it was savoury, like the sugar had been forgotten- nothing sweet about it- and had a bitter taste. I couldn’t even get through one bite. Overall, I would stay again but would probably pay extra for an upgraded room. Thanks for your awesome service and superb manner with your guests! This alone make a big difference to people’s experience.
We stayed at the Godley Hotel thankfully just for the one night! The room had a double bed, a single bed and a settee. No room to move - and breathing was difficult as there was a little fan which did nothing to alleviate the stuffiness of the room. There was only a sliding door in the back and a door in the front which had no security screen so we couldn't have it open for fresh air and NO windows! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!
Looks nice on the outside but very very tired on the inside. Tv plugged into random multi plug, bathroom door looked like something out of the skip, black marks on sheets, paint work chipped. Restaurant & bar not open. $190 including surcharge. Would have payed $100 at the most. Husband would have preferred a tent.Rooms: 1/5
