OMG. We didn't really know what to expect, but wandered up from the village and man were we pleased we did! The Giant's House is one of the best things we have visited. Simply stunning, the attention to detail is magnificent, the mosaics amazing and gardens are planted to compliment the mosaics so well. This is worth a trip to Akaroa alone and worth every cent of the entry fee. We did about 4 loops of the gardens and we're still seeing things new each time. Do not miss this!
Great place to open up your imagination when it comes to what you can do with broken ceramics. Very colourful definitely a labour of love by the sculptor, Josie Martin. It’s located on a slope & the gardens have been beautifully tiered & designed alongside the mosaic pieces. There is also beautiful views as you wander through her garden. Tickets are $35.
We live in Christchurch and have visited Akaroa more than 20 times but never considered visiting this place due to its unusually high price.nnAfter visiting today, we realized we should have come here a long time ago.nnIt’s such a creative, colorful, and joyful place to visit. The house features stunning mosaic sculptures, vibrant gardens, and unique artworks that beautifully blend fantasy and creativity.nnWhile we were there, it kept reminding us of the masterpieces by Gaudí but we qdon’t need to travel much further just a couple hours drive.nnHighly recommended! Worthy!!!
Realy cool place to visit even on a rainy day.nThe mosaic work is amazing and the garden is stunning!nDefntly worth the drive from christchurch.
Although garden and mosaics were amazing and got some brilliant photos, the price did make us think twice before entering….$70 for 2 people seems pretty steep considering you are only there for 30-45mins.
