We decided to visit The Factory Smokehouse and Grill for dinner because of their high ratings. The food was OK. We had 1/3 Rack of Ribs with Big Red BBQ Glaze, Pork Belly with Orange Pop Sauce, a serving of Chips, Factory Slaw, Corn on the Cob, and BLT Burger for dinner and Mississippi Mudcake and Lemon Cheesecake for dessert. The burger was great, but we were not impressed with the rest of the food. Corn on the Cob was very bland, I think adding some mayonnaise or butter with herbs would make it so much better. Pork Belly with Orange Pop Sauce tasted a bit weird, I think doing BBQ sauce would probably be yummier. The Rack of Ribs was dry. The desserts were delicious. Overall, it was OK, but we would not come again.
Seriously great food, seriously relaxed place. Perfect. Our group of 5 got in just before the dinner rush, but man, wait if you have to - it’s totally worth it!!! Safe for our friend with celiac disease even! We will be returning!
What this place lacks in fineries and frills it compensates and catalyzes with food portion, taste and...deliciousness . Superb assortment of burgers, cuts and fries. So tender and succulent the pork ribs and literally lusty the fries with bacon sauce. As the sign quotes, truly food which nourishes body and mind. The only thing I'll suggest is to introduce some selection of draft local beers. The guy who is running this place knows what he is doing. The restaurant is a little bit tucked away on the corner between a couple of other shops. We were lucky enough to walk in and get seated without a reservations - maybe call ahead before rocking up. We were immediately greeted and given the regular menus and drink menus. The place is set in an open table type setting with no table service - you just order at the bar. We ordered a burger with chips and the dory fish and chips. WOW! Amazing food made of high-quality ingredients. You can't visit Rotorua and not stop in at this place. I went in with my husband but there were large tables of families too! Lot's of food options including a bar with soda, beer, and other alcohol. Great enviroment with even better service. Didn't catch the name of the guy running the show but he was friendly, accomodating, and made sure everything was up to standard. 10/10 no complaints here.
Interesting and thoughtfully designed burgers, epic pork belly bites, and next level service. We had a great conversation with the owner about his thought process for flavour combinations. I'd recommend giving it a try as the combinations make for a burger you wouldn't get anywhere else.
It seems quite popular so I tried as well. Really, I think it is quite good but I like more American's huge burger so I can only score 4. However, it tastes really different compared to chain store or US style but good way. I will recommend that you also need to try here as well. The only thing not taste to me is the chips...well, not meet my stomach.
Good food. Taste great. I really dont know about the waiting time here in NZ but it took longer that what i am used to. That being said, i will be going back to sample more on whats on their menu.
Highly recommended! Best BBQ in NZ - good value for your money/ fair price. Staff is very friendly, Owner behind the bar helped me to choose wisely, as the menue is just freaking sweet as! 50/50 Cheeseburger was breathtakingly delicious & savory, one of the best Burgers I've ever had in my life. BLT was very tasty & cross too. Starter: Calamari. I loved it. Check the menue on the Internet, Burgers come as displayed. Soulfood deluxe. Thanks a lot.
