Hi, Dave and Penny here, we have two comfortable rooms, both with a queen bed, which we would love to rent to you on your visit here to the very beautiful Lake Wanaka. Both rooms have the use of the guest bathroom which is located adjacent to the bedrooms.
We have provided in the room tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and a hairdryer to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. There is also free Wifi available. The living quarters consist of a family/dining area where you can join us and our beloved dogs in the evenings or there is a separate lounge which you are welcome to use.
Our peaceful, recently built, home sits on an acre and a half just 10 minutes from the Wanaka Lakefront. We are also 3 mins from the airport which has mainly recreational aircraft, but also has skydiving and flight seeing tours over the glaciers. From our home we can look out to the airport and watch the skydivers landing.......a remarkable sight! Also a great position to watch the 'Wanaka Warbirds' aerial show which is held every two years. Occasionally in the evenings in summer we can see aerial acrobatic displays being practised.
For the ski bunnies or snow boarders our location is also handy for the Ski fields of Treble Cone, Cardrona and the Snow Farm. In the summer time, Wanaka is a superb holiday destination, great for walking, fishing, boating or just relaxing and the number one destination for many New Zealanders. Other lakes close by suitable for fishing and boating are Hawea (15 mins away) and Dunstan (30 mins away). The nearby Clutha River is also great for fishing or for just walking to and discovering some of the old Gold Panning Tailings that are there..
Nearby townships are Alexandra which annually has the Blossom Festival in the springtime and historic Cromwell which is on the banks of Lake Dunstan. Queenstown and Arrowtown are only a mere hours drive over the Crown range and from there onto the beautiful Milford Sound.............well worth the trip. Milford Sound is stunning in any weather and esp after the rains.
Vinyards abound in the area and are always worth a visit esp to the wine buffs amongst us.Wanaka is also the gateway to the West Coast of the South Island and the beautiful scenery and glaciers that are over there.
Closer to our home tho is a cosy pub just a 5 minute walk away serving great meals at a reasonable cost. Relax in our 'Dell' or for a quiet evening in you can enjoy our home theatre system which can show movies on the Big Screen.
For animal lovers, we have 2 very friendly dogs, very much loved members of our family.
We have good local knowledge. Wanaka is an amazingly scenic place and probably the best place to stay in New Zealand's South Island. We will do all we can to make your stay as memorable as possible and help out with tours and onward travel where we can. Originally from Christchurch we have much knowledge on that area too and what to see and do there.
We hope that our description is helpful to you in making your decision to come visit with us and we look forward to meeting you. We offer great rates, priced per room
