We have always driven past this hidden gem! BUT what a mistake it was! We stopped for lunch after our visit to Whiti Farm. The garden was so beautiful, pet friendly and the pub inside is filled with character and local history! We had the crispy chicken wraps, salted peppered squid, Cheese Burger, chips and the scallop burger. The scallop burger was sublime! Juicy, tender and tasty! I had an Appleton Rum and Coke, oh man! It was goood! We will definitely be visiting again!
Iconic pub with lots to offer. Great drinks range and yummy food. The pub is famous for its music events held in the arena outback... an outdoor covered area for over 1000 people.... Bring $10 cash to oark in the nearby field. Get in early to find a seat or bar leaner. It was great to see Elemeno P and Sir Dave Dobbyn here. The security staff were polite, professional and cool. The bar staff in the pub didn't know much about the concert event details but that was ok. I was thrilled to get tickets and visit this famous pub. Great place for great memories!
Absolutely delicious!! Great service, great vibes and yummy food! Priced pretty well for the portions. Would come back again Food: 5/5
Came with the American Muscle Group, came here last year, with the same car run. Had amazing turnout, must of been a bit much for the hotel, they were very slow on some food orders so by the time we about to depart, others yet hadn't gotten their meals.Food: 5/5
A good stop between the Hot Water Beach and Whitianga. We rang ahead to make sure that the kitchen was still open and we were in luck. The Tuesday night special, steak, eggs and chips was good and the fish and salad also received a thumbs up. The staff friendly and helpful. Parking was right outside the front, door but on a busier day parking in front of the pub could be more good luck than good management.
Little hidden treasure. Really enjoyed the food here. When I think NZ Country Pub this is what I imagine but i never imagined the food to be fine dining quality. We had the quinoa salad with chicken. YUMMMMM! Wish we were more hungry to try other things. We will be back in two months so can't wait to see what else you have. Service was fast. Staff were fantastic. The place was a western cowboy rustic vibe. Loved it.
Great country pub. They do big gigs in the summer and it has a big stage area out back. Food is really good although there is no table service you order at the bar and collect your own food. Great atmosphere.
If you want a feel for the local area, then you must stop in here. I ordered the vege burger without cheese to make it vegan witu some curly fries on the side. They had a vegan friendly sav blanc too - Neds brand. The burger was really tasty, as was the wine. If we visit the area again, we'll be back for sure
Quite possibly the best fish & chips l've ever had: three pieces of delicious fish, plus chips & salad, really excellent. Great little pub, good range of beers, true kiwi icon. Parking: Space for a dozen vehicles out front, plus more down the side road
Great place for a roadtrip meal, or even worth the drive if you are in one of the nearby beaches. Great meat and burgers day specials!! Very warming reception.Food: 5/5
