Story

John Newson first owned a computer in 1984 and started working in a computer retail/repair shop in Napier in 1986. While there the company sold over 300 computers to the Hawke's Bay Polytech so they could start computer courses.
He has had various positions within the computer industry so has a wide, varied base to call upon. At one stage he managed a company with two employees based in a central Hastings retail outlet, still providing mobile repairs.
Recently some time was spent at a big box retail wholesaler (3 years) in Taupo as their technology person before working for a major repair firm in Taupo as the in store technician.
Circumstances have meant that he returned "home" to Hastings where he has reopened his business doing mobile repairs.
John has been a long time volunteer for the Amateur Radio Emergency Communications unit in Hawkes Bay involved with providing communications for Search and Rescue, Civil Defence and community events like Car Rallys the now defunct Kaweka Challenge along with other smaller events. Since being back in Hawke's Bay he has been volunteering for the Hawkes Bay Knowledge Bank servicing their three servers in Hastings, Auckland and Palmerston North and advising on replacement and procurement of their computer equipment and four hours a week are spent tutoring at Heretaunga Seniors.
