Story

The Co-operative Bank is the only bank in New Zealand to share its profits with its customers.

We’re truly different from other banks—because we’re owned by our customers and we were built on the idea of giving back. In fact, we’ve been giving back to New Zealanders since 1928.

Because we’re a co-operative our main purpose is to create prosperity for our customers, not to create profit for anyone else.

We’ve got 34 branches throughout the country, with more opening soon, and around 135,000 customers from all over New Zealand.

Mission

A co-operative is an organisation that's owned by the people who use it, and is managed for their best interests. That means that we're not owned by a big overseas company or the Government. We're owned by our customers—people from all over New Zealand—and our motivation is to do the right thing by our customers. Anyone who becomes a customer becomes an owner too. We offer you everything you need for everyday personal banking: transaction accounts, savings accounts, personal loans and great accounts for kids. We also have overdrafts, insurance and investment options if you need them. And if you have a small business, we've got a range of products and services designed to help you get ahead. As well as our branches, our customers can use any ATM anywhere in the country. And of course, we have Internet, TXT and telephone banking.
