The Clevedon Village Farmers Market

About

The Clevedon Village Farmers' Market is open every Sunday from 8:30am to 1pm except over Easter, the second Sunday in November (due to The Clevedon A&P Show) and the Sunday between Christmas and New Year's day.

Story

The Clevedon Village Farmers Market opened on the 20th of November 2005 with a wide selection of produce offered by over twenty stalls. The market has grown and there are many new stalls, as well as seasonal vendors coming and going as their crops dictate. The market has become a popular destination for locals and visitors due to its idyllic and relaxed rural setting, wonderful selection of produce, great coffee and the pony rides for children on fine days.

The Clevedon Village Farmers Market aims to promote the quality, freshness and variety of local produce. It is a venue where growers and producers can sell their own produce directly to the public.

It is a place for the community to meet and shop for the freshest possible selection of produce and quality provisions. It also encourages sustainable farming practice, reduces food miles and the use of non-degradable packaging.

Produce available at the Market can include
Vegetables, fruit, flowers, herbs, plants, meat, poultry, fish, seedlings, seeds, nuts, cheese, coffee, pickles, preserves, sauces, baking, eggs, bread, confectionary, wine, juice and homemade cordials, materials used in the production of food such as compost and worm farms.

"A true farmers market with local farm fresh produce, gourmet provisions, coffee and fabulous foodie eats. Clevedon Village Farmers Market was created to provide a venue for local farmers, growers and producers to sell and promote the quality freshness and variety of locally grown produce directly to the public. In visiting the market, you will get a genuine farm gate to table experience, with the opportunity to meet the grower and learn more about the food you eat.The market is flourishing and is a popular destination for both locals and visitors, who appreciate not just the excellent shopping on offer, but also the market's idyllic rural setting and its relaxed, friendly atmosphere."

Had whitebait fritter on a piece of wholemeal bread with lemon and tartar sauce - it was one of the greatest culinary experiences I had in NZ. Markets were apparently quieter than usual, but there was still heaps of interesting stalls. Better markets than I've experienced in Aus.
I highly recommend visiting the Clevedon Village Farmers Market if you are looking for fresh, local produce and other goods. It is a great place to support local farmers and businesses, and it is a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Here are some of the things I like about the Clevedon Village Farmers Market: The produce is always fresh and of the highest quality. The prices are reasonable. The vendors are friendly and helpful. If you are looking to eat food with all of the townies from Auckland, this is the place! If you are looking to buy art and crafts, stop in the village town hall. I wouldn't book to go to lunch after going here. This place will leave you full !
I have been frequenting this market for quite some time now, finding it to be a decent spot for taking a break, exploring, and enjoying a meal. However, I am taken aback by the exorbitantly high prices of their produce. It makes me question whether the vendors are all on the same page or if they are oblivious to the current economic climate. The pricing strategy appears utterly perplexing, especially when compared to the Avondale Market. For instance, charging $40 for just 1L of Olive Oil and $13 for a loaf of Sourdough Bread is outrageously expensive. It's simply ridiculous and makes me wonder where their priorities lie, unless they're intentionally trying to drive away customers.
Getting too popular! Hard to find parking, long queues for food, but still a fun place to visit! Great selection of produce great people watching place, very dog friendly.
Best market in Auckland, worth the drive! And make sure you arrive hungry. They don’t do single use coffee cups so a tip is to bring your own! You can also “rent” one for $5 that they return to you after.
One of the BEST Farmers Market we've visited. The vendors are very friendly and their goods cater to a variety of diets. I highly recommend a visit - you will not be disappointed. My better half and I love the allmite gold yeast spread - a must try, it tastes so good, that it's coming to a Countdown near you soon! to rival the traditional yeast spreads. Jenny's Kitchen Tamarind Chutney, o so good too. ynut coconut candied macadamias, delicious! We bought most of our fresh veges for our Sunday to Wednesday salads, here. There's so much more to try, i.e, manuka honey - high MGO's & UMF's, etc. We went there two Sundays ago and had to go again last Sunday. Assuredly, we will be back again.
Such a lovely atmosphere with brilliant entertainment. The largest selection on yummy treats I've ever seen at a market, with almost all vendors offering taste tests. I was almost full before I'd decided what to eat! Definitely a must-do when in the area.
It was a good vibe and a reasonable range of food . Beautiful smoked cheese from szilvaia's little kitchen. You need to try one weekend.
A "real" market! Lots of artesan produce available. Lovely "village green" type atmosphere, including live musician. Small and larger producers have stalls eg, Jersey City A2 Organic Milk. Free, ample car parking. Well worth a visit and an opportunity to while away a relaxing, enjoyable hour or so. Make time for breakfast, brunch or lunch for a memorable Sunday.
