I Had a late arrival arranged but though a series of mishaps I was locked out of the hotel late at night with my grand daughter. Emails not received as I was on a plane. I lost my credit card and put it on hold. The amazing guy from the bar he had actually finished work let us in. Called someone else who had also finished work. This guy came back to work and sorted out our room. Amazing service. They arranged a late check out for us. The room was clean and cosy. I am so grateful for these guys who went above and beyond their jobs. Thank you
The hotel has known better days. The fridge in the kitchen is leaking water on the food. The ground floor bathroom is really unpractical. The first floor carpet smell of old cigarette smoke but they started to renew it when we were there, issue could be solved. No locker in the rooms. When you book there, ask for a first or second floor room.
stayed 2 nights with friends for the Ed Sheeran concert on 2/2/23. The 4 Of them stayed on level 2 and I was on level 1. This level definitely needs a bathroom upgrade, -big time. Nothing at all to dry hands on or in, showers need a really good clean and the mirrors need to be accessible otherwise what is their point. My room was very hot and the fan didnt work. Staff at the front desk had quite a search to find a replacement which was working. Once I removed my footwear I stepped on a large patch of sticky, damp carpet. Vomit? That would explain the odour in the room. I wasn't expecting 5 star for the price, however hygiene standards need a 4 star pick-me -up. Pretty disgusting for a service industry.
The hotel was good and fit for purpose. The staff was willing to help whenever their help was needed. I consider this experience a blast from a past. I loved the old style lift and thought it was safer and well-maintain than some modern ones. Bathroom was clean but unfortunately, there was no shampoo or toothpaste so I had to run to the nearby shop and buy them in my night clothes. Other things are fine. Photocopying and printing facilities were helpful. I loved the view from my hotel room. A glamorous Queen Victoria statue was standing right outside my room. Great place for a Victorian history lover !
Fine for the price paid. We purchased a whole dorm room however I wouldn't pay $40 for a bed in a dorm as there are no bunk curtains or safes in the rooms. Our stay was pleasant and did the job
Great place to stay on a budget. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. We arrived out of hours, however they did provide a key safe for us to collect our room key. The rooms were clean and tidy. Ours had a microwave, though there was no cutlery provided which was a problem if you wanted to use it for a meal. There was a kettle and cup's and glasses, along with teaspoons and teabags and milk provided. The shared toilet's and shower's where kept clean and tidy which was nice, though It could have done with a minor by the sink for shaving. Very convenient for the town centre, parking was free outside from 8pm-8am, after that $3 per hour maximum 3 hours before having to move your car. Okay if you are planning on being out most of the day.
This hotel/hostel setup was not good. Our first 4 bed dorm we checked into had been hot boxed by one man who looked like he'd lived there for months, we were genuinely concerned the guy was suicidal. Made the staff aware and they relocated us to another room, a 6 bed dorm with 0 floor space, you could literally step a small step between bunk beds. The whole place was pretty dark and dingy, old clothes left slung over beams, towels on the window sill to soak up moisture etc. Kitchen was constantly trying to be kept clean but seating area was disgusting, sofa was sodden with food, torn etc. Just not an enjoyable stay at all.
Fantastic central location, easy after hours access. Staff on the desk was very kind and helpful. Room was a great size as were the beds. Beds were a bit uncomfortable and the shower wasn't too clean. Was nice to have tea and coffee in the room and shampoo and body wash etc for the shower. Shower pressure was terrible which was gutting. Facility is really run down however it was priced accordingly and we would definitely stay there based on the price and location
Lovely ol' bar mood lighting and lots of dark wood. Food was great. But sleeping in a shared bunk room made me feel guilty, I snore Food & drinks: So good
Yes it's being updated . It would be good to have handle rail in showers . Bed bunks mini light with battery charge point . Shoe racks in corridor would be nice . Yes , I would come back .
