We came later in the night when kitchen was about to close, but our waiter was fast friendly, advised us the kitchen was about to close and was more than happy to help us to decide on what lovely kai to have. Kai food was beautiful, staff were friendly, atmosphere was bliss, nice cozy little spot, I now understand why they get busy...glad I finally got to check this place out, instead of just hearing about it.
Great indoor and outdoor seating areas. Awesome place for a quiet drink, sitting down for a meal or going to a band music night. Good selection of food and drinks. Friendly and good staff.
Absolutely brilliant place. Good vibe, outdoor and in feel. Nice craft beer list and well priced wine. We had the fish and a Moroccan chicken salad followed by home made sticky date pudding. Superb service and perfectly paced.
We sat up on what I would describe as a staged area. Our waitress helped seat us. That's where our interaction with her ended. We waited and waited for water to be brought to us and menus. In the end we walked to the bar to order only told they would come to us when we asked for menus. Finally got our menus from another table. Again waited for her to take our orders..nope. again a visit to the bar to order. Our food was interesting. I ordered the vegetable stack. Sort of wasn't what I imagined or based on the menu. The sauce seemed like a mixture of vegetables all lumped together. The carrots were frozen not fresh and ruined the overall taste. My partner liked his fish tacos but commented that the fish was of the frozen variety and not fresh. The only attention we got from staff was from the super friendly guy. He was lovely and chatted to us about our dogs. Would we come back?? Probably only as part of a group, certainly not as a couple.
10/10 friendly staff! Will definitely come back to eat here in the future, I got the creamy prawn with yummy bread and my partner got the fish burger! Absolutely delicious! The whole vibe there was our kinda vibe, staff made that even better so thankyou
Nice place with very friendly staff, however the food could be better. The burgers both had a nice taste but were over-sauced and very messy to eat as a result. The patty was quite dense/firm and though it had a nice flavour wasn’t tender. Generous portions nonetheless!
This is the only place we’ve really eaten so far in Whangarei because we keep going back. The $15 lamb shank special on Wednesdays is amazing. The wedges and hot chocolate are delicious. The cocktails and iced chocolate are quite good. Staff are very friendly. At the start the waitresses are quick and attentive but after 1.5 - 2 hours they sometimes stop asking for drinks and it’s harder to get their attention. It can be pretty cold outside in July and unfortunately there aren’t many tables inside so I’d recommend booking ahead if you want to be a bit warmer it’s still not toasty though because the large door stays open. Apart from that I’d highly recommend this place to anyone for affordable, delicious food and drinks.
Quality was good. In terms of quantity, it was affordable compared to the price. Staff are kind, friendly, and hard working. Unfortunately we had to wait almost for an hour to get our meals. The tent also need cleaning as it seems it has black mould not sure but lots of black dots which look mould.
Always love to come here for a $20 Sunday steak. Excellent Service + excellent food .. love it!
The food came in really late. While placing the order we were told that it will take half an hour for the food to come to the table. We were fine with it. But food didn't come out even after one and half hours. I still give them a 5 star for 1 for the genuine care of the staffs and the quality of food. 2 It was father's day and they were busy. They did come and check on us a couple of time during the wait. At one point we did get a bit itsy and contemplated walking out, when we saw a group of 8 who came in half an hour after us getting their food while we were still waiting for ours. I should mention this guy who took our order, he was exceptional. Just before we left I heard, he had to jump in the kitchen to help the chef with our order as we have been waiting far too long. Kudos to him, we will be back.
