The infamous British Hotel was badly damaged in the Canterbury quakes, but is slowly being restored. An ongoing information page for those interested.
An infamous hotel with a very colourful past, the British Hotel of Lyttelton is currently home to four local businesses - Green Dinner Table in the main bar, Hell Fire Club in the old dive bar, Finder Gatherer in the reception room and Sherpa Kai in the courtyard. Standing empty and damaged for 5 years after the 2011 Quakes, it is slowly being restored, with major work (including restoration of the parapet) expected to begin in 2019.
Support of the businesses in the British is greatly appreciated as they are playing a vital role in helping to bring this beautiful building back to life.
