Neat qerky idea of turning a house into a restaurant. Good range of alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks. Had the 3 course menu with the eye fillet which was cooked perfectly. Disappointed that the shared side didn't come out until we were almost finished our main. When it did come out was a little dry & portion size not suitable for 2 people. Had the sticky date pudding for dessert which was delicious.
We went to try their 3 course dinner. For our entree I ordered the prawn gazpacho and the my husband got the free range pork belly. For our mains we got the Taupo beef eye fillet and coastal lamb rump and shared a side of seasonal vegetables with miso butter. And for dessert we both got lemon meringue creme brulee.
I lived in Taupo about 4 yrs and had dinner here many times before , usually good , but today , Me and my sister had dinner tonight, during the dinner , we politely asked the staff a fat lady , can we have some tissue please, the lady told us : there r some tissue in the toilet , u can have it urself which give us a surprise and after 3 min , she just throw a box of tissues to our table see the pic , I paid $223 for 2 of us for dinner , all receipt will be attached , don't think it worth for this . Just my own opinion , maybe the staff fat lady who is unhappy today , who knows .

I saw a review for a good steak. Went in, not realising it was 3 course meal. 4 if you count the rather exception bread with some sort of delicious infused butter. Tremendous meal. I had the prawns, steak, and sticky date pudding to finish. Absolutely stuffed, but, just delectable meal. Will come back, with friends!
All I can say is 'Wow'. We have been twice before and already have an expectation of the place, however on arrival the kind gentleman acknowledged my dress and how I looked. The service at the table by two servers was exceptional. One server was quite young but very attentive and professional. And the food as always was devine and worth every cent.
See end if thus review for edits Out of 4 people dining, 2 had a bad experience. Of the 2, 1 has a dairy allergy which was specifically stated at the time of booking, and confirmed by the restaurant on arrival. Firstly, the service was exceptional. However, once meals were served the food was well below the establishments expected standard. It is totally unacceptable that a restaurant, that is aware of someone who has an allergy serves food that could have caused serious harm. Besides the cold food, overcooked food was also served. The restaurant also knew that one of the 4 was celebrating a birthday and find this extremely disappointing that his steak was overcooked twice. Personally would not recommend this restaurant, with the choice of other establishments available. We do appreciate the waiting staff tried to compensate, however, it was a totally disappointing night overall. I have now edited this review as during the night the person in out party who had allergies , had a reaction. I would defiantly not recommend this place if you have an allergy. Well great that the owner went to so much trouble to get to the bottom of this issue well done that you did this not many would do it. Vegetarian options: No options available Dietary restrictions: Restaurant has absolutely no idea regarding dietary option and allergies.
That was a 10/10 3 course dinner, delicious food and I just loved the service and atmosphere. Ginger cake was the highlight of the night, must try.
To the reviewer below King Ocean Blue Wave I am the Fat and Fabulous owner of the past 20 years who placed the tissues at your table last night, yes when you asked for tissues, I directed you to where you would find them as there seemed no urgency for them and being young you are more than capable of getting these yourselves, however noticing that you had not gone to the bathrooms I then brought and placed them to your table. I was also the one who was asking if you would like any aditional drinks and was the one who brought over the requested hot water even with a plate of lemons that was not asked for, even refilling the hot water when asked all with a warm smile, as after 20 years I still love being in the restaurant. I have given 5 stars for the way you felt compelled to describe me as a fat lady, being a size 12 and 3 kids you have to be aware of the damage you can do mentally to someone by stating that! twice I may add. I know you may not read this however as owners we do and so do our staff, we take on board constructive feedback. But you can still BE KIND!
Excellent restaurant. We went there on the first night of our holiday in Taupo and liked it si much we returned the next night too. Good selection on the $80 3 course set menu. Will definitely be back next time. YUM Parking: Great parking right outside.
