Great decision, came here as walking past, great live music, the food was really good, and bar staff were awesome, great cocktails! Not bad for a pub! Pretty impressed really..
Best food ,friendly staffs and music always fantastic. Great place
An excellent spot with great service and good Guinness. The food is basic but good quality and the portions are generous. Don't mess about, just go here.Food: 5/5
That was the very first experience of ours at "The Bog". And we do believe, that not the last one as well. Mostly its menu is about the fast food there. The food was not "over the moon", but not bad at the same time. Didn't mean to hurt their Chef at all, but we've got plenty of splendid cuisine experiences to compare to. But don't forget, it's an Irish pub and not a "Michelin" restaurant, where u'd better drink some good beverage and don't eat too much... ; Well, to be short: Quite acceptable food , very nice and kind staff and absolutely fantastic atmosphere with some live music not sure if occasionally or on the regular basis inside. Can recommend, no doubt...
Going to the bog was a fairly spontaneous decision made because we wanted to try something new and it was a great decision! We were made welcome and shown to our table promptly. They had a great atmosphere, it had a very fun, vibrant pub feel. The music was good and upbeat but a little on the loud side so don't go in expecting a quiet dining experience. They have a beautiful interior and it was very clean and had a very warm welcoming vibe. The bathrooms were also very nice and clean. The staff were some of the best I have had the pleasure of being served by. They were pleasant and polite, they were very quick to remove used dishes and always nearby to assist us with any queries or requests and knew all of the specials without hesitation. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and was reasonably priced. We ordered Garlic bread which had some of the creamiest, lightest and most amazing garlic butter I have ever had. The chicken noodle soup was cooked to perfection with all of the veggies being just right and the broth was amazing, i could have just had the soup broth for my meal and would still have been very satisfied. I ordered the chicken schnitzel which was moist and delicious, my only issue with it was there not being enough mushroom sauce but that's mostly because it was so delicious. My partner ordered one of the steak dishes which was a fair bit tougher than it should have been but it wasn't bad enough to ruin the meal. Overall a fantastic experience and we will have to go back again because i feel like i need to try everything on the menu.
Great food. Awesome main with beer for 30 bucks. Irish band playing on stage were soo good and there were about 10 of them. Most importantly, the music wasn’t too loud like most pubs I’ve been to. Will be back. Prob tomorrow
Nice ambience and beer selection. Great place for some pub food and live music or drinks with friends
We were looking for a bite to eat and found this great pub. We both went for the Sunday lunch of roast pork which was fabulous. They have a good range of beers and wine but the hazy was very nice.Food: 5/5
We visited this enchanting establishment through a First Table booking. The Irish fare was sone of the finest we have ever experienced in Christchurch. The majority of the staff we encountered were Irish which added to the charm. The standout dishes were the bangers and mash and their Guinness hot pot pie. Both dishes were lip smacking glorious! When we went they had a wonderful eclectic mix of live musicians playing jaunty Irish jigs and jives. It was a highly entertaining and enthralling place to visit. Definitely, a very family friendly tavern to take the littlelees too.
Best Guinness in town. Great live music. Super friendly staff.
