The Bakery Cottages

About

Charming 19th Century schist cottages set in historic Ophir.
A perfect quiet getaway or Central Otago Rail Trail stopover.

Story

Located in the heart of Central Otago, the cottages were once the towns Stables and local Bakery during the 1860 Goldrush.

Restored and transformed into the Old Bakery Cafe, now we offer the cottages as delightful Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
Our place is ideal for that romantic weekend getaway or for the whirl wind one night ,while biking the Central Otago Railtrail with friends.

Steeped in history and character. Our place is where memories are made

We offer a generous continental breakfast, that includes our own free ranged eggs, muesli, fruit & bread.

Also feel free to feed the chooks and collect your own eggs for breaky.

We have two self contained cottages (The Bakery & The Stables)
The Bakery contains:
1x King bed- great if want to spread out after a long day cycling, or can be split into two singles, perfect for a girls weekend.

Fully equipped kitchen that includes everything to cook a meal & laundry facilities.

Own bathroom attached, with complimentary shampoo & condition (both rooms have this).

The Stables (studio unit) contains:
One double bed, perfect for that cosy night, and clean and tidy ensuite.

In both rooms, complimentary afternoon tea on arrival.

The miners hut, located at bottom of drive way is separate stand alone cottage, that can only be booked with conjunction when booking The Bakery Cottage, as you have to share the bathroom.
This room contains one single and one queen bed, perfect to lock away the noisy kids (or snoring male!).

We are located just down the road from Blacks Hotel Pub and three doors along from Pitches Restaurant.Handy for dinner or just a drink.

This year we are also offering four wheel drive trips through the Thompson George track, one of Central Otago stunning pieces of land that is a must do when visiting. This can be included in your package if you are wanting something different to do. Lots of exciting wild life to view, and don't forget to bring your camera, as the views are just incredible.
If you are wanting to stop for a picnic while enjoying the view at our woodshed man cave, a packed country lunch can be included for an extra cost.

Many Brides have also booked the cottages out for their wedding party, as it is a very relaxing place to get ready for that special day, and offers perfect photo opportunties. Platters & Nibbles can be arranged for an extra cost, with bubbles .

Visiting Central Otago is a must do in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Book in now, to experience what it is about!

Feel free to email Nikki for any questions or bookings! We cannot wait to share our beautiful B&B with you.

Fantastic place to stay, a real gem in New Zealand
We stayed at Bakery Cottages as part of our Otago Rail Trail trip. The cottage was amazing. Everything was there for us and we felt very welcome and safe. It was very close to the pub as well as being very close to the restaurant we had booked.
Awesome cottage. Rustic country feel.
Charming little cottage. Quiet and relaxing
I stayed at this place on Friday for one night. It is a great place to stay. The hosts are very friendly. The cottages are very clean. Loved the home baking. I would strongly recommend this place as a great place to stay. Loved staying there.
