A RAiNBOW WITHOUT A POT OF GOLDnnOn 2/6/2024, I took my husband to A&E at Thames Hospital as his asthma was getting quite chesty despite taking his medicine.nnWe arrived at 4:30pm and it was not until 7:30pm that my husband was seen by a doctor. Dr. Lisa, an American lady who is a New Zealand registered and certified to practice, came and saw my husband and it turned out the wait of three hours was well worth it with the pot of gold delivered, so to speak. She was exemplary in the way of rendering her medical advice as she was able to put it across in a practical sense. My husband has written a letter of commendation to the highest authority within Health New Zealand and that of course will take its course.nnYes, there is a long wait at this hospital at the A&E Department and that is true. However, doctors like Lisa is able to balance things out in a proper way.nnADVICE: Go there if you are willing to suffer the extensive waiting time. But if not, try another hospital.
I had day stay surgery in June, the team at Thames Hospital were brilliant.nFrom reception through to the surgical team, what an amazing group.nI have been involved with health care for many years and your empathy and attitude to patient care was exemplary.nYou deserve this recognition.
I would not recommend this hospital at all.nRecently took my son to Emergency department due to a rash that I noticed on his leg. The doctor told me my son has dermatitis, and gave me a cream Hydrocortisone was told to apply the cream for the next 7days. Long story short I followed my gut feeling and chose to get my son seen by another doctor the very next day.nTurns out my son actually has cellulitis and needed antibiotics etc.
3 different presentations. All requiring re-presentation to other medical facilities due to their inability to listen, failure to patient rights and incorrect history note taking and diagnosing. Or simply no doctor available to see you.
My daughter had day stay surgery and every nurse was amazing. Every staff member we came across was absolutely amazing. So friendly and helpful. I would def rather here than Waikato any day.
