We had to wait hours in the waiting room and just wanted to get out of there but once our nurse Alvi called us in, he was so kind. We instantly felt better about the whole experience. Big ups to Alvi
My mother was vey ill and ended up at the inpatients ward. The nurses, health care assistants and doctors were amazing. They were supportive and caring. We were appreciative of the help given and professionalism shown by all team members during a difficult time. We can’t thank them enough for what they did for my Mum and our family.
My husband had to visit the A&E department recently. We were so impressed with the friendly staff and the treatment we received from the receptionist, nurses and Dr on duty that day. Thank you so much for being an awesome team!
Actually -100. Rand to find out if radiology for a simome xray had to be booked in or coukd just turn up at 8am when opened. Firat lady was completley clueless, a simple question should have been able to be answered by anyone on the after hours lines. Question unanswered as was hung up on for being abusive, when just in agony, and wanting a very simple question answered. Rang back 2nd time thinking i had mucked it up and gone through to delivery. Got the ext no and wow. I have a referral from my dr as this second lady was told, and also said yes i could present it on arrival. Was told had to go to ED at thames hospital. Now i am very grafeful for the hard hard work our drs and nurses do, and have the upmost respect for them all. They work hard, ling, demanding hobs. All the staff. I was told had to go to ED to let them decide what next. I informed her no i have seen my dr, tried to explain, that no, i will not waste precious ED TIME when have akready paid to see Dr and given referral for xray. I got told was talking over top of her, and simply hung up on. The two most rudest women i have talked to in a hospital position. After hours call takers should at least know and be able to differentiate between someone in pain legitimately asking a simple question and not needing to waste anyones time. Do i need to book or can i go at 8am when open. Pretty standid simple question. If you do t like your job quit. Other wise have more respect for someone in severe pain, and do yiur job and be helpful. Pretty easy.
A RAiNBOW WITHOUT A POT OF GOLDnnOn 2/6/2024, I took my husband to A&E at Thames Hospital as his asthma was getting quite chesty despite taking his medicine.nnWe arrived at 4:30pm and it was not until 7:30pm that my husband was seen by a doctor. Dr. Lisa, an American lady who is a New Zealand registered and certified to practice, came and saw my husband and it turned out the wait of three hours was well worth it with the pot of gold delivered, so to speak. She was exemplary in the way of rendering her medical advice as she was able to put it across in a practical sense. My husband has written a letter of commendation to the highest authority within Health New Zealand and that of course will take its course.nnYes, there is a long wait at this hospital at the A&E Department and that is true. However, doctors like Lisa is able to balance things out in a proper way.nnADVICE: Go there if you are willing to suffer the extensive waiting time. But if not, try another hospital.
