The car park is off of Kerikeri Inlet Road, it's small, around 8 spaces. No rubbish bins or toilets.nThere's two waterfalls to see with minimal effort. Start off walking down what looks like a driveway. You'll come to a little bridge then you'll see the top of 1st waterfall while going down the walkway made up of stones and tree roots. Then going off track crossing the streamvia rocks you can get to the base.nGoing back to the walkway you'll come to another little bridge after crossing it 1min walk you'll reach Te Wairere Falls.
A pleasant surprise. Beautiful track. Has some stairs and roots to step over. There is a seat looking out at the waterfall. Track in good condition. Not well sign posted, so tricky to find from main road and not much parking nearby but you can access it along the river walk. Ignore Google Maps' instructions and use one of the maps in the brochure abt the five waterfalls.
You can get to this waterfall by the shortest route from 47 Kerikeri Inlet Road, where there is 2 or 3 car parks not sign posted very well. From here it is only a 5 minute walk down to Te Wairere Waterfall, walking down the track beside the Secret Waterfall for a part of the track. This track can be slippery in winter and when it is wet.nWhen you are down the stairs some are rock steps, cross the little bridge, and continue to the falls. These falls are a great little gem, and there is a nice seat to sit on and enjoy them. Well worth the trip. You can also access them from the other end of the track from the Stone Store, which is a gentler, but a lot longer track I believe more often used - but not local, so not sure.nOn the way back to the bridge, turn up stream, and you can work your way up to the Secret Falls - it can be a bit tricky over and around some of the trees, but you can get a view of this additional small fall.
A short but nice walk to the falls. The first falls you see is called the small falls. When you arrive at the bridge, keep going straight and you'll see the stunning beauty of Te Wairere waterfall.
This track just opened again in 2017 after being close for 60 years.nLeave your car across the street from where is bridge is, there are not many signs to point the way but you will see one pointing to the falls just go straight you will see the falls from the top
