Maori health organisation serving the Far North community
The trust began in 1997 providing mobile nursing services in the far north and has grown progressively over the years adding a comprehensive range of services including general practice, home support, health promotion, mental health and more specialized mobile nursing services.
In 2000 it became the first Maori provider in the country accredited with Quality Health NZ, and in 2008 it became the first general practice in the far north accredited with Cornerstone – despite being newest entrant to general practice. As part of its commitment to quality, the trust employs highly qualified staff and strongly supports training at all levels of the organization.
In 2003 it opened general practice services in Kaitaia, another clinic opened 2005 in Doubtless Bay, and another Kaitaia clinic was purchased in 2008. Associate Minister of Health, Hon Tariana Turia, opened our new Kaitaia premises for merged general practice services in 2009 that accommodates five general practitioners, practice nurses and admin staff. Our Doubtless Bay general practice service has two general practitioners, practice nurses and admin staff.
