I have stayed there a couple of times now and it is a beautiful community hub for whanau.

Was pretty interesting but they talked for a really long time and the gingernut biscuts were pretty stale. However there was a great sense of family there and the stories about the ancestors were interesting.
I celebrated the Maori New Year at Rongo with prayers and songs for a good harvest for the next year. After that we had breakfast at the Marae. Beautiful - lovely food, good people doing the kitchen work. Just awesome. Thank you Kono.
No wheelchair access into wharenui. Wharekai has very good facilities into dining area, toilets.& showers.nMenu on the day fingerfood.nAtmosphere good.
