If you have cold or flu symptoms you can't book a doctor's appointment here. They will only see you as a casual drop-in patient which means you may have to wait 1-2 hours in the waiting area to see a doctor. I have no idea what that is supposed to achieve ‍
Rang in this morning to book my daughter an appointment and lady on phone was saying back hand comments for no reason not my fault you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or hate your job. Do better old bag
I have been to this clinic with a local family member and also for myself on many occasions . As an American, I have often been critical of the medical system in New Zealand but Te Awamutu Medical Center has been the exception. I have been treated promptly, effectively and inexpensively every time I have needed emergent care. The receptionist has always been pleasant and helpful even when extremely busy and the medical professionals I have interacted with have surpassed my expectations every time. I am dismayed by the negative comments by other non-citizens about cost because I can’t imagine medical care being any less expensive than this. An iron infusion which has cost me $400 USD at home, cost me a mere $120NZD for more than 3 times the amount. Seeing the lack of funding for medical care Waikato Hospital is beyond over crowded, understaffed and inefficient I was confused why I wasn’t charged more. Understanding the US charges way too much, I still believe NZ is charging too little to those that aren’t paying taxes. In my opinion, NZ should be charging foreign visitors more for medical treatment to help alleviate some of the financial burden already weighing so heavily on the system. I’m grateful for the care I have received through Te Awamutu Medical Center and I find comfort knowing my medical needs will be met whenever the need arises. The Path Lab has also given me great experiences.
As a new patient I was very happy with the service I have received. The staff are very friendly and only to happy to help you. Although kept very busy it is a very happy practice. The medical center itself is very up to date more so than one I previously went to in a large city.
When I pay $75 to see the doctor for five minutes, I expect to have a private, quiet room. Not to be sitting with the doctor in a common area with a family seeing another doctor mere inches away, and also the construction guys chatting loudly on the other side of us. That is unacceptable. Also with two reception areas, people aren't seen in the order they arrived, which should be a primary focus of any business. At least the nurse and doctor were very friendly.
